Need for Speed: Most Wanted announced

Xbox News | EA officially confirms what we suspected months ago.
Need for Speed is one of the most popular games of all time and EA have announced the latest incarnation of the game will be titled Need for Speed: Most Wanted.

Need for Speed:Most Wanted delivers a unique experience in the racing genre as players build up their 'Rap Sheet' and 'Street Cred' to move their way up the 'Black List' to become the most wanted racer on the streets. Sounds awfully try-hard, but it works. Players will go head-to-head with the top drivers on the scene as well as strategically evade more than half dozen cops at any one time. Add in a dynamic open world, new gameplay and customization as well as tuners, supercars, muscles and sports cars.

Part of the interesting news in EAs announcement is that Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be available for the Xbox, PS2, GCN, GBA, DS, PSP, PC and an unannounced next generation console, which we suspect is the Xbox 2. What, no N64 version?

PALGN will have more information on Need for Speed: Most Wanted as soon as it becomes available, including the first screenshots which should emerge soon.

That's exactly it. Stupid idea too. EA should just go back to the good old days with Hot Pursuit, when Need for Speed was a good game.

i honestly think that none of the sequels to the original "Road and Track's The Need For Speed" have been as good...

the later games have looked and played better than the original, but it changed so much from the original, which was basically an interactive car magazine more than a game, but thats what i liked about it... i think it should have been given a different name from NFS2 onwards...

ah well, the franchise has been re-directed a few times in it's existance, i guess it just started with the second game...

There were only 3 Need for Speed games I enjoyed, which were;

NFS:SE
NFS:2
NFS:5 (Porsche Unleashed)

I'm with Obs and Mark, NFSU is nothing compared to the older ones. I wouldn't go as far back as Obs, though. icon_wink.gif

I especially hate NFSU2.. The open map.... It was painful to play..

I originally got into the series with Porshe Unleashed and it will always be my fave - there was so many modifications at the time

i wish the original Need for Speed (or, as i said: Road and Track Presents The Need for Speed) could be re-released with a newer game engine, as it was a pretty poor game in terms of gameplay and graphics, but it had a heap of extras... histories of the cars, FMV of the cars in action... it was great...

i don't know what the console versions (the SE release) was like in comparison, but i remember that i didn't like NFS2 compared to the PC NFS1...

i quite liked the Hot Pursuit and High Stakes games, and Underground 1 was fun, but in a one off novelty way...

this one sounds like it could be alright... i dunno...

Actually, come to think of it Obsolete, I also had High Stakes! Now that one was good! I really enjoyed that, I remember wanting a steering wheel for that game! Never got it though icon_sad.gif

Why is this "Xbox" news? Need for speed sells by far the most on PS2.
