Xbox and BigPond have joined forces to uncover Australia’s hottest Halo 2 talent. The massive event will be held at the University of New South Wales Roundhouse from 9am on April 9 2005.

The first official Australian Halo 2 tournament, the BigPond Halo 2 Tournament, will offer more than $10,000 in prizes and a showcasing of some of the upcoming titles headed to the Xbox in 2005.

The tournament will offer two testing categories: Single Player and Four-Player Team. The eventual solo winner will receive exclusive prizes to the value of $5,000 as well as the honour of representing Australia in the global Halo 2 final. The winning team will win $5,000 in prizes.

David McLean, Regional Director of Microsoft Home and Entertainment Division Australia and New Zealand said, "with 400 000 players globally, Halo 2 on Xbox Live has been a social gaming phenomenon. Australia's committed Halo 2 community will ensure the BigPond Halo 2 Tournament is a spectacle no Aussie gamer can miss."
