Halo 2 midnight launches confirmed

Xbox News | So where should you go to get Halo 2 first? Myer. All the details inside on how to be one of the first people in the world to play Halo 2.
Going on sale at exactly midnight on November 9, 2004 worldwide, arguably the most anticipated release of all time will not sneak into stores quietly. Instead, Melbournites will be treated to a carnivale at Myer Bourke Street Mall in the city with local music outfits Killing Heidi and Eran James all taking to the stage to celebrate the second coming of Master Chief.

MCs will be Nova DJ’s Andy & Carrie. Punters will be treated to a host of street-style entertainment, including break-dancers and fire-eaters, as well as appearances from local celebrities including Aaron Hamill and Matt Maguire (from the St Kilda Saints), Corey Layton (Nova), and Rob ‘Millsy’ Mills.

The events will cater for those in for the long haul, with entertainment and refreshments provided right up until the midnight madness.

Listeners can tune in each day from November 1 to Nova 100 for a chance to win exclusive prizes throughout the week, and tickets to kick back alongside the Xbox celebrity ambassadors in the VIP lounge area to take in the festivities in plush surrounds.

Sydneysiders will also have the opportunity to pick up Halo 2 on November 9th. Local music outfits Regurgitator and Evermore will be taking to the stage in Sydney.

PALGN will have more information on Halo 2 as soon as it becomes available.

This has to be the most antcipated game ever for me, and it's so close now. Glad to see Halo 2 is coming out in Aus on the 9th, I got a little worried when I heard the rumours we might be following Europe....

lmao the full game of halo 2 got leaked, every secret about this game will be out everywhere by next week, sucked in microsoft, AHAHAHAHAHA.

Leaked or not if there was one game I was going to play before I died, it would be Halo 2, but then again I'm a major fanboy. icon_lol.gif

Some people happen to really like games. Guess what, lots of those people go to gaming forums. icon_razz.gif
Besides, posting things like that with no real beneficial effect, which only really serve to anger others, is called "trolling" and is generally not tolerated.

Wow, this looks like such a great party for such a great game.. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_razz.gif

Yes, but it is really any different to when a new movie launches in cinemas?

And your posts are considered trolling since you feel that it is so nerdy for people to have parties...

In response to the article, it sounds interesting in melbourne, although I am unable to attend the midnight launch at my local EB, due to year 12 icon_sad.gif

games arent as big as movies, and getting bands like killing hiedi and regurgitator to play and having a big party at mignight for a game launch is just stupid imo.

I think its some kinda offshoot of what happens in Japan, where I do believe they have national holidays on big console launch dates. The least we can do is have a midnight party.

I went to the little midnight party on the Gamecube launch, no bands, but tasty snacks icon_biggrin.gif

That's untrue. Games these days reach a budget that is equal to blockbuster Hollywood movie easily. So going to extreme with the launch of Halo 2 isn't too surprising. Good move actually.

I went to the mid-launch for the Gamecube. Wasn't much of a turn out, but I did have the Gamecube before many Australians.

i don't see the point of midnight launches just for the sake of them... personally i can wait an extra 8 hours and get some more sleep... but a party to advertise the launch of the game sounds cool...

i've been to a few movie launches and they're usually a heap of fun, so why not a game, as devil said, the budgets are usually comparable to movies, with probably a heap more spent on scripting and storyline than many movies i've seen too...

i dont see any games making 100 million dollars in sales.

neither do most movies... yet they still hold parties...

stop spliting hairs, we both know movies are bigger then games.

i agree, but games are becoming more and more popular al the time... and with production techniques becoming more and more similar, so it only stands to reason that similar marketing techniques will be used too...

I actually don't plan on getting Halo: 2 until Early - Mid next year...

Not too fussed about it, would rather spend my money on HL: 2 or stalker.

I'll just wait for my lil cuz to get it, as soon his does, he will find me at front door in seconds!
