Ghost Recon Special Edition For Xbox

Xbox News | Ubi Soft have announced a new version of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon for Xbox. Learn more inside...
Ubi Soft announced yesterday that they plan to release an all new version of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon. The game will be called Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Island Thunder and will be standalone, meaning that players will not have to own the original game to play it.

The game will feature eight new single player missions set in Cuba with another eight new multiplayer maps set in various locations, with four more from the original game. It is also Live Enabled, so you can play online and access downloadable content.

“The Clancy brand owes its incredible popularity to gamers who want an intense and realistic gameplay experience,” said Alain Corre, Ubi Soft's Managing Director for Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and South America. “With this new campaign disc, Ubi Soft Entertainment can give back to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon fans, providing them with more of their favourite Ghost action."

"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is one of our most popular games on Xbox Live and has everyone going wild!" said Michel Cassius, European Director of Xbox Platform, Microsoft. "With Xbox Live, gamers can download exciting new content like missions and maps, injecting new energy into gameplay, and keeping games like this fresh and engaging."

Obviously, because it is not a full game, it won’t retail at full price. Currently the game is scheduled for release late this year; which should be right on time for Xbox Live's debut in Australia.
