Forza Motorsport Preview

Xbox Preview | We preview the next big racing game from Microsoft.
The Xbox and racing games go in hand with each other. Every six months or so there is a genuinely amazing racing title on the Xbox, however, none of them are yet able to match the brilliance of Gran Turismo 3. Microsoft is hoping this isn’t the case come this Christmas where its latest racing game Forza Motorsport will go head to head with Gran Turismo 4.

Forza Motorsport has many key features which set itself apart from the usual drone of racing games. Gamers who are passionate about cars will have the opportunity to own, customize and race their favourite cars. Cars will range from sports compacts to LeMans prototypes. Players use earnings from hundreds of races to buy upgrades and aftermarket parts so they can transform real cars into high performance race cars. Xbox Live support is fully included and will allow gamers to take their high performance cars online.

Over sixty manufacturer’s will be included in the game, this includes: Mazda, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Dodge. There are thousands of customizations which can be made to your car ranging from tricking out sports compacts with real-world body kits and fender flares.

The best automotive engineers have teamed up to create a realistic racing game with Forza Motorsport. An advanced physics engine has been created that recreates authentic car performance. Cars will incur damage and wear which will ultimately affect car performance.

Forza Motorsport will also include amazing race tracks with superb detail. These tracks will range from Nurburgring Nordschleife to the spectator-lined streets of Rio de Janeiro. Improved AI has also been promised with unique “Drivetar” technology whereby racers train drivers to use the same racing techniques you do, so they can race for you in competitions.

As mentioned earlier, Xbox Live support is promised. From intense multiplayer wheel-to-wheel racing to challenging individual bests and beyond, Forza Motorsports Xbox Live gameplay will deliver innovations that reinvent the online racing experience.

Forza Motorsport is also hoping to be the most photo realistic game available as well. Reflections, shadows and lighting all combine to provide amazing quality graphics. Camera effects like blooming, lens flare, heat shimmer, light rays, depth of field, and haze create TV-quality presentation will all show off the power of the Xbox.

PALGN will have more on Forza Motorsport as it is unveiled. Forza Motorsport is currently set for release in Quarter 4, 2004.
Overall:
We are eagerly anticipating Forza Motorsport and we're sure it is going to be one of the best racing games on the Xbox.

Looks promising, but it's no match for GT4. icon_razz.gif icon_wink.gif

I shall be looking into this title, what has been said about the game has been very interesting. Then again, people are saying that it's just another GT clone, so we'll have to wait and see.
Oh, and even if this title is brilliant, it won't ever beat GT4...
