Colin Mcrae Rally 2005 unveiled

Xbox News | Yes another one is in development, who would have guessed?
Atari Australia has today announced that yet another Colin McRae Rally game is in development. Titled Colin McRae Rally 2005 it will be coming to the Playstation 2 and Xbox in Spring 2004.

Announced just days before Rallisport Challenge 2's release Colin McRae Rally 2005 should be the biggest leap for the series since its beginning.

Online play will be possible for both the Playstation 2 and XBox and an all new career challenge mode has been introduced. Career challenge will send gamers hurtling through over 20 different classes.

300+ stages are confirmed to appear in the game and it will be possible to drive a huge variety of vehicles from 4-wheel drive, 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel classics, Super 2-wheel, Rear wheel and 4x4 classics.

Even more of an upgrade is being made to the graphics engine. A new bonnet cam will be selectable and damage is being tweaked down to minor details (eg. if you hit a tree it will shudder and drop leaves)

PALGN will have more on Colin McRae Rally 2005 as it comes to hand.

i wonder what car will be "his" this time.... considering he doesn't have a drive this year.... at least not in the WRC, i suppose it could be his Paris Dakar run this time around...

Does anyone else here follow the WRC, or other rally events? i volunteer at Rally Australia, or at least i have done for 6 years now... is cool...

This is just getting ridiculous, how many times do they want to milk the cash cow?
Sure, the first game was awesome, and the second one was pretty good too, but c'mon, stop releasing sequels to the game Codemasters, and make something else for a change!

I will admit, it does look pretty nice, going by the screenshots. I'll still try it out, but if it's anything like the last two, then it won't be worth it.
Hopefully Codies will try something different for a change too, after this is released...

agreed... 1 and 2 were awesome when they had backing by the WRC and FIA, but since they have had an official licenced game and withdrew the backing i think CMR has suffered... especially in the area of licenced vehicles...

the regularity between editions is a bit offputting too, i didn't play 3 simply because 4 was announced before 3 was released...

i'm sure you've noticed that Richard Burns has a game on the horizon... hope it's not as bad as the shockingly **** Tommi Makinen rally...
