Ninja Gaiden to be censored

Xbox News | Looks like the UK won't be decapitating hapless Ninja wannabes anytime soon.
In order to avoid receiving an 18 rating, Microsoft UK have admitted that Ninja Gaiden will have the infamous decapitations removed from the European version of the game.

This comes in the face of past statements from Microsoft UK, claiming that the game would only receive minor changes in order to comply with the stricter rating systems in place in Europe.

The removal of the decapitation has earned the game a 16+ certificate in most European countries, when it is released on the 14th of May. Whilst hardly ruining the game, it is still disappointing.

Whether this change will carry over to all PAL regions, including Australia and New Zealand, is unknown.

They better not censor it here, I'm looking forward to this game. If they go and censor it, i'll definately feel like I'm missing out.

They shouldn't censor games, they're made the way they are for a reason. If they have to be strict on selling the game to the correct age group, then just do it. Don't wreck it for everyone.

i honestly don't care if a game is censored in a manner that doesn't actually affect the gameplay too much, ok so you couldn't use hookers to up your health in GTA, but ultimately i don't think it mattered too much...

i'm assuming the decapitation move is a purely aesthetic feature, and doesn't actually affect the gameplay...

probably more realistic if you can't decapitate people as the sword would be more likely to catch on the spine... then the ninja would be ****...

EDIT: just thought i should say that i would prefer a game (or anything for that matter) not to be censored...

i also find it entertaining to be discussing censorship on a board that utilises a swearing filter...

Hehehe....Yeah, most of the time they censor something it doesn't make much of a difference, but it seems that in this game, they could censor anything such as the amount of blood, or the possible moves the character is able to perform. Hopefully they won't do anything like that.

But cutting off heads and limbs is what makes ninjas so awesome. Besides it's not very likely for the sword to get stuck, unless it's either a very weak attack or it's reality!!!! Ninja's are not meant to be real, that's why cutting off heads would be cool. It would just bring some hilarity. Like in Kill Bill when Uma is cutting limbs off a load of guys. My previous reaction was more a knee jerk reaction, I just want the uncut version. Oh well mod chip here I come.
