Prototype screens revealed

360 News | Looking better then a prototype.

Fresh off a press event yesterday, Vivendi Games has released a fresh batch of screens from their latest open-ended foray, Prototype. The game is being developed by Radical Entertainment, who have experience behind previous open-ended games such as The Simpsons Hit and Run, The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction and Scarface The World is Yours.

Unlike the aforementioned titles, Prototype is an entirely original IP. You will play the role of Alex Mercer, a fellow who is suffering from amnesia, has a lot of funky abilities and is playing Rambo against the military's Black Watch Special Forces and a viral epidemic. Alex will use his funky abilities to free-roam around New York City, as well as choosing to 'disguise' or 'destroy' as he attempts to find out exactly what's going on.

The final game will also have co-op multiplayer, and is due for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC sometime in the middle of 2008. Stay tuned to PALGN, as we'll have a hands-on preview of Prototype in the very near future.

The billboards in the game just scream "These fake products are going to be replaced by advertisements for grossly unrelated products from companies trying to reach the 'core gamer' audience!"
