XBLA getting Lode Runner

360 News | Being completely reworked for Live.
At CES, Microsoft has announced that they will be releasing a completely reworked version of the fun and addictive platformer Lode Runner to be released onto the Xbox Live Arcade sometime this year, Joystiq reports.

The original Lode Runner on the Apple II was released in 1983 and will be going through some major changes with developer Tozai, including the addition of 3D scenery as well as multiplayer both co-operatively and competitively via Xbox Live. It will also include a timeline-style feature which will educate gamers on the history of Lode Runner and how it has affected video gaming - something fans of the game will undoubtedly love.

No specific price or release date has been mentioned yet, but we should hear more details closer to its eventual release. In the meantime, check out some screenshots in the media panel below.
