Over 8 million copies of Halo 3 shipped

360 News | As Microsoft reveals some sale stats.
Microsoft mouthpiece Major Nelson has announced that that Microsoft has sold 8.1 million copies of Halo 3 since its launch on September the 25th, 2007. Microsoft's statements using the word 'sold' usually mean 'sold to retailers' (also known as 'shipped'), so this figure is likely not sold through to consumers, but is impressive nonetheless.

More than 17.7 million Xbox 360's have been shipped worldwide and Mass Effect has shipped 1.6 million units since its launch less than seven weeks ago. According to TeamXbox, Microsoft also revealed that the tie ratio for the console is 6.9.
