Halo 3 map pack coming tonight

360 News | It's time to go buy some points.
Microsoft Australia has confirmed today to PALGN that the Halo 3 map pack which was first announced back in November will be released tonight.

This is old news? Perhaps, but Microsoft have also given us the precise timeframe that the map pack will be available--that is, 9 PM tonight. So call up sick for work, buy some Microsoft points and get ready for an all nighter.

Forgive me if this is a basic question, but will this mean people without the map pack can't play matchmaking anymore?..

Negative. If you have the maps, you'll only be able to play others with the maps (if the map/playlist is randomly selected). If it's an older map, anyone can play.

As far as i know there's no new 'Playlists', so if you don't fork out the points, it may be a little harder to find a game.

There are new playlists too.

I think it's going to be 800 points I heard fro a mate last night, which is a major rip-off. Even for Microsoft.

^Darn

Was looking forward to this. I'll still check up in it before I pass it by though, might be worth it if enough maps are included.

I can't find the info on Bungie or even Major Nelson's site, but how long until these will be free?

I'm guessing about six months.

It was announced that it will be free in (northern hemisphere) Spring so look forward to waiting until Fall for freebies! icon_sad.gif It isn't quite 6 months though depending on when in the season it just might be.

Next time can you make a sensible non-trollish statement, and actually say why you have a problem with it?

Not really. The Gears of War maps (Subway, Process, Bullet Marsh and Garden) were also 800 points when they first released and did exactly what these new Halo maps are doing; becoming free in 6 or so months time.

800 POINTS! WHAT! Perhaps because I'm a PC gamer but I am certainly not used to paying for three maps let alone any. I can't see how you can put a price tag on a map... meh.
