Microsoft Japan details 360 Dashboard update

360 News | Some redesigns.
According to Joystiq, Microsoft Japan have revealed a few new details about the upcoming Xbox 360 Dashboard update. Apparently, one of the major changes will be that the Live Arcade list will be removed from the Game Blade and be replaced with a Game Library feature. Similar to Live Arcade, the Game Library will display all your games in a long vertical list, but will also give you the option of horizontally sorting them under headings such as Arcade, Demos and Recent Downloads.

In addition, the Marketplace will be reorganised into four different categories: Featured Content, What's New, Game Store, and Video Store, and will implement a similar filtering system from the Game Library.

Other features include a new text field in the Gamer Profile page which you can use to write a short biography about yourself, and all Xbox Live Arcade demos will be deleted from the Played Games and Gamercard lists.

The Dashboard update is currently expected to be implemented on Tuesday, December 4th. We'll report back once a complete list of new features becomes available.

Hm - I was hoping for more, these seem to be mainly superficial changes.

That said, those are just some of the features - I'm fairly certain there will be more. The one I pray for is being able to stream more video formats from my PC via Media Centre.

Without a doubt the best news announced so far about this forthcoming update. Couldn't give a rats behind about the Friends of Friends feature, nor really the Xbox Originals thing when I still have my old Xbox. Not everything has been announced yet, but finally getting rid of Arcade demos from our lists is absolutely brilliant. Bye bye games I'm never going to buy, now my completion rating can be even higher. icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah this is a great update, I cant wait to clean up my list. Originally I played alot of arcade demos without knowing that they would turn up on my achievement list.

The whole restructure of the Live Arcade blade sounds really interesting too, cant wait for the update.

The removing of the demos from your played games list has probably been one of the most requested features since day one.

Not sure about the changes to Marketplace though. I can't help but think they'll keep changing marketplace until the wreck it. I mean, it's pretty clear as it is, aint it?

Yeah he is good news. I hate having those crappy demos on my played list.

I dare say there is a lot more coming in the update.

You'd certainly hope so - DivX playback like the PS3 is getting (has got?) would be nice.

Hopefully we'll get something to fill up that "Video Store" section one day.

Unless I'm completely missing what your saying, you can watch media in shared folders without MCE. I do using XP anyway. Sorry if I've misunderstood.
