As part of its fiscal first-half financial report, Ubisoft announced that it was rescheduling Splinter Cell Conviction for release in fiscal 2008-09, which starts in April 2008. No exact release date for the game was provided. The slip marks the second delay for the new Sam Fisher adventure, originally slated for release this Christmas.
Taking place after the events of Splinter Cell Double Agent, Conviction places Sam Fisher on the run from Third Echelon, the spymaster's previous employer. Ubisoft is promising to revolutionise the latest game in the acclaimed spy series by providing a completely different style of gameplay - one that is more akin to Assassin's Creed then previous installments in the spy franchise. Further, the fifth Splinter Cell title will only be available on the Xbox 360 and PC.
Stay tuned to PALGN for further information on the game's release date as it comes in. In the meantime, check out the media panel below for screenshots of Splinter Cell Conviction.
