Mass Effect available today in Australia

360 News | From EB Games, anyway. UPDATED: Not so fast...
EB Games Australia has posted word on their official website that they will be selling copies of Mass Effect from today (Friday 16th of November). Emails confirming this have also been sent to purchasers. The website suggests that customers call their local store for delivery times.

BioWare's highly anticipated sci-fi action-RPG was supposed to have been released in Australia on the 22nd of November, but it looks like EB has got the drop early. This comes of the back of news from this week that EB Games was also selling Crysis a few days earlier then expected. Nonetheless, the announcement will be welcomed by those who have pre-ordered Mass Effect, as they will be the ones getting first dibs on the game.

Mass Effect is an exclusive Xbox 360 game and is built on Epic's Unreal Engine. BioWare's latest title is promising around 30 hours alone to complete the main quest, so it looks like our holidays just got a whole lot busier!

UPDATE: Mass Effect Community Coordinator Chris Priestly has posted the following on the official BioWare forums: 'We have spoken to Microsoft Australia and they have spoken with EB Australia's head office. NO copy of Mass Effect will be sold before it's Nov 22 launch date.'

How much has everyone paid for it? My mate doesn't have internet at the mo so i'm doing all the research for him.

Might go have a look at EB myself. I was tossing up whether or not to get this cuz this style of game isn't really my thing, but might aswell buy it if it means having it extra early. Yea I know there's absolutely no logic in that....oh well...sue me..

I love just casually picking up stuff other people are dying for.

Meh, won't work for EB - I just drop by JB, get their catalogue, and make EB price match icon_biggrin.gif

YES BABY - MY BROTHER HAS A COPY.

Mass Effect tonight.

Who's going to play all night and post a review tomorrow on Neogaf or Bioware forums and watch those Americans squirm?

Don't worry I have no personal vendetta against Americans - but it would most definitely make them squirm. LOL!

so JB are flogging it as well? Store wars, gotta love it.

EDIT: it is in their last catalogue but it's down as the 22nd, EB may not price match till then

No one has said that they are selling it today.. icon_confused.gif just getting EB to price match them, I don't see EB doing that if they know JB aren't selling it yet.

LOL - extra early is an incentive for you for a game you wouldn't have otherwise bought???? You're nuts and TOO INTO gaming.

I got it from EB - traded 3 games in, GRAW, Fight Night 3 and PGR3 and got it for $9.95

they probably won't price match till JB are selling it though

My EB priced matched JB and I just picked it up for $79 icon_biggrin.gif

They were happy to price match, FTR

I said, "so what's the deal with it releasing early?" and the guy was like "search me, we just got an email telling us to sell"

Someone stuffed up big time but I'm not complaining!!

Hey all - EB have a preowned deal now - buy 2 get 1 free.

PLUS the Mass Effect deal is trade 3 games get it for $9.95

They have heaps of stuff down there such as Prey ($25), Perfect Dark ($25), PGR3 ($20).

That would make it a grand total of $49.95 for Mass Effect if you traded in three copies of PGR3.

yeah they dont accept multiples though. Also some stores don't accept some older titles, though most will.

^ lies.

You have a really good EB then icon_razz.gif. 2 of the stores wouldn't accept multiples. 1 of them wouldn't accept some older titles. Another one didn't care.

Guess its all random. But in EB's past deals, the one that didn't accept multiples for this one, did accept multiples and launch titles... must have changed since then.

yup.

when i ordered ME, i actually brought the games home for a bit with the intention of trying them out, but various issued meant i couldn't be bothered and went back an hour or so later and traded them.

when i ordered Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy, they didn't even bother getting the game discs out of the cupboard. i did this in one transaction too.

I got my copy from Melb Central no problem - there was only one other person in the store at the time and they weren't buying Mass Effect THE FOOL!

So yeah, rock the **** out.

am i the only one who thinks this is bad as stores that don't have it yet lose sales??

or is it all good as long as we're sticking it up to the man??
I think as long as we get to play the game no customer will care who is selling it.

Yeah i agree no "Customer" will care. It's the people who sell the games that will imo. Ohh well i can't wait to see how much eb will have to pay in fines icon_smile.gif. I hope everyone will enjoy the game icon_smile.gif Lucky lucky people
