Mass Effect available today in Australia

360 News | From EB Games, anyway. UPDATED: Not so fast...
EB Games Australia has posted word on their official website that they will be selling copies of Mass Effect from today (Friday 16th of November). Emails confirming this have also been sent to purchasers. The website suggests that customers call their local store for delivery times.

BioWare's highly anticipated sci-fi action-RPG was supposed to have been released in Australia on the 22nd of November, but it looks like EB has got the drop early. This comes of the back of news from this week that EB Games was also selling Crysis a few days earlier then expected. Nonetheless, the announcement will be welcomed by those who have pre-ordered Mass Effect, as they will be the ones getting first dibs on the game.

Mass Effect is an exclusive Xbox 360 game and is built on Epic's Unreal Engine. BioWare's latest title is promising around 30 hours alone to complete the main quest, so it looks like our holidays just got a whole lot busier!

UPDATE: Mass Effect Community Coordinator Chris Priestly has posted the following on the official BioWare forums: 'We have spoken to Microsoft Australia and they have spoken with EB Australia's head office. NO copy of Mass Effect will be sold before it's Nov 22 launch date.'

So are EB going to make a habit of this early release business? Crysis and ME sold early in the same week... Hrmm

Eh, now I'll be counting the minutes until I can leave work and pickup my copy. My friday night is now full.

I'll have it in about 90 minutes. icon_biggrin.gif

Won't be able to play it for another 510, though. icon_sad.gif

Have you got confirmation that you can get your copy?

i wish you didn't tell me that, i thought EB were great protectors of the release date, better have lunch early and get on down there.

Probably because they are losing so much business to JB Hi Fi and their killer prices on new games. If they break street dates and sell it early they most likely get RRP from consumers.

^If you continually break street dates suppliers will be very unhappy. Punishment is that you won't get a shipment of the next big game until a week after its released.

Yes, I rang my EB dude an hour ago. I'm hoping to god he sells me a copy before he gets word from head office. Chances are low though. Boooo!!!

Yeah, I think places who got their copies early would have broken the street date. I think it's rather funny since media sites can't even publish their reviews yet icon_smile.gif

Hurry up and get your butt down to EB Leon.

THe only reason I haven't left is that I want to trade some games in and they're sitting at home.

And my brother isn't picking up the phone! GRRR!

Great news for me at least. I was annoyed when I heard EB had released it early (as I just have enough money to survive till Thursday)
Now I dont have to worry as much about selling mysel... earning cash another way to feed my Mass Effect crave icon_razz.gif

I rang them this morning and they sad their shipment normally comes in just before lunch. So it looks like I'lll miss out just due to the timing.

I'm sure EB will get a big slap on the wrist for this screw up.

My local EB is still under the impression they will sell when they get it. I didnt mention this recent development though icon_razz.gif

Heres hoping!

Who knows, since EB have done a mass email out and its all over their website, they might say to hell with it and sell it anyway.

I cant see MS Australia holding back future releases from EB given they are probably their major money maker retailer in Aus. Prob get a fine which they will happily pay.

Anyway heres hoping I am playing it this arvo!

I'm about to head down to the Melb Central EB and check it out - if nothing else I'll be able to get some lunch while I'm down there icon_smile.gif

Melb central didn't have it when i went there, elizabeth street does however, and they did indeed sell me a copy of it, yay, the back of the box is making me wish work was over.

EDIT: it was basically walking out the door also, so be quick if you aren't pre ordered

All i can say is that it will be so good to get this before the yanks!!!!!!!!!! SO GOOD

EB said that they weren't given a street date for it, no stickers on the box, so basically jog on microsoft.

EDIT: they are going to keep selling it till they get the official phone call

Is that the game where they get a bunch of emo's to try and run a store, big combos for ignoring customers.
