Kristen Bell to play key role in Assassin's Creed

360 News | Veronica Mars goes back in time.
Ubisoft sent through word this morning that Kristen Bell, best known for her work in TV series such as Veronica Mars and Heroes will be playing an important part in the publisher's upcoming title Assassin's Creed, due out on shelves on November 15.

"It was crucial to find an actress who could convey the emotional range and talent needed to play this key character in the Assassin’s universe,” said Jade Raymond, producer for Assassin’s Creed. "Kristen Bell is a remarkable actress who was able to bring her character to life in a dynamic way that I don’t think anyone else could have done properly. Her professionalism and dynamic personality were a perfect fit for this project."

"I was a big video gamer growing up, so working on Assassin’s Creed is my chance to be a part of video game history," said Kristen Bell. "It’s something completely different than what I’ve done before, so it’s cool I get to branch out and try another entertainment medium. I was attracted to this project because of the intelligent storyline and the character I play. Plus I admire the artistry of the graphics of video games. I look forward to seeing what my character will look like and I can’t wait to play the game and see if I can beat it!"

A comparison image between the real Kristen Bell, and her Assassin's Creed counterpart is available in the Media Panel. PALGN will have a full review of Assassin's Creed around the time of its November 15 release date.

seems funny that they're only just starting to talk this up. i found out a few months ago through a Veronica Mars fanclub that this was happening, and we discussed it even in the thread for the Assassin's Creed Preview, though i hadn't, until now, seen an image comparison.

i wonder if Ubisoft are trying to cash in on her now appearing in Heroes, a far more likely interest for nerds and geeks than Veronica Mars.

(as good as Heroes is, Veronica Mars is still massively better.)

Hearty concurrence from me.

I thought everybody found out about this months ago when Kristen Bell let slip some vital information about the game in an interview. That comparison picture was only released recently, though. Apart from the fact that they forgot to render half of her eyebrows it looks pretty damn exact. Chow Yun Fat in Stranglehold looks like a guy wearing a Chow Yun Fat mask, this is much better.

Same here.

She is *everywhere* at the moment. She's the voice of Gossip Girl in every episode this season (and into the future), has a 15(?) episode arc on Heroes and now this?

Not that I am complaining (because she is teh_sex) but just making an observation.

so there only officaly confirming it now? I swear month ago over at IGN they had a article where she mentioned she was it in and let slip some spoilers on the game and her role.

Couldn't care who she was, as long as it isn't an annoying voice.

Didn't she spoil a major plot twist in the game, that wasnt confirmed nor denied by Ubisoft?

Wow, games have a really, really long way to go before they match reality. That character looks deformed next to the real Kristen. Plus, what the Hell is up with the hair (on the model)?

I disagree, they've done a pretty good job when you take into account the level of games technology developers are currently working with on the PS3 and 360. As for the hair, it's clearly intentional, she is playing a character after all, not herself, so the character she is playing is supposed to look different. It's just a different hairstyle is all. The end result is a good photo realistic looking model, which isn't supposed to be a perfect replica of her anyway, so for the purposes it's going to be used for, I think it's just right.

The hair itself doesn't look right, regardless of whether it's mean to be her real hair or not, it's far too flat, like she accidently combed it with glue instead of whatever people comb into their hair. It just looks like a texture, there's no substance at all to it.

It certainly looks good for a game, but i think they're kidding themselves if they think that comparison shot is in any way a good thing to have done at this point in time. Hell there are discrepencies in Angelina Jolie's look in Beowulf and that's being done on an insane network of systems. Far too soon to be pulling the comparison shots in my opinion.

Agreed Sin. How lifeless do those eyes look? Still, maybe it'll look a bit better in motion, so as to not notice the discrepancies so much. And their horrible attempt at eyebrows.
