Xbox 360 on top of Oz for October

360 News | Outsells Wii and PlayStation 3.
September was a big month for the Xbox 360, with Halo 3 driving sales of the console. Well, the momentum has kept up, with Microsoft revealing today that according to GFK figures for October, the Xbox 360 was the best selling console hardware for the month.

Halo 3 also remained Australia’s number one game and sold more copies and generated more revenue than any other title across all formats. Australians also spent more dollars on Xbox 360 hardware, software and accessories than on any other platform. David McLean, Australian Xbox Director, says, "We have maintained our momentum throughout October and with the blockbuster range of titles we have coming in November and December, Xbox 360 is primed to finish the year on a very successful high."

The OB was only on sale for 1 week in October and entered at #3.

Halo however was #1 for each week of October.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the 360 outsell the oposition for November, even if Halo 3 didn't exist. It will be an even better month for games.
If you look at the highest 3 scoring 360 games on metacritic - Bioshock, The Orange Box and Halo 3 - and take into account that they have all been released in the past few months, plus we have Assassin's Creed, COD4 (Both multi-format) and Mass Effect (exclusive) coming out this month. It's a good time to own a 360!

No Figures though so if it is anything like last Quarter there was like less then 500 in it.

This holiday is the 360s biggest so far, so not surprising to see it outselling its competitors

I love the AU sales data - all we get is a presser saying 360 outsold everyting else - with no idea what the figure was and how other consoles performed. Just wondering, does nintendo do this every month Wii is on top, or for that matter , Sony with the PS2?

Go Xbox, I personally don't like it much, but its good seeing as it has good games. Because Wii doesn't deserve it. Yet.

Before I got banned from Aussie-Nintendo, they made a thread for the weekly sales for all games that week, plus the ones on the Wii and DS. I can't quite remember if they did it for the console itself, but I would hazard a guess that do.

You were banned? I wondered where you'd got off to icon_razz.gif

But yes they do gather the figures every now and then, software mostly though ^^

Would love to see exactly how much the 360 outsold its competitors!

I'm not too fussed on sales data, that would imply that the sims expansions, dogz / catz / monkeyz / gerbilz: richard gere edition and the singstar games are the best titles. It would also imply that PS2 and DS are the systems to have.
Sales data is not indicative of game quality.

PS2 and DS surely are the systems to have if you couldn't have any other current ones, though. So... yeah.
