Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits XBLA

360 News | Good things come to those who wait. Updated.
There was a bit of controversy earlier this year when every territory but Australia received Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for download on Xbox Live Arcade. Though the game was rated by the OFLC, it was never released, with some speculating that the game was caught up in rights issues.

Well, in a surpring move tonight, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game has been made available for download on the Australian Xbox Live servers for 400 MS points.

Update: The game was initially available for free, but this seemingly has expired - we told you to be quick!!

Gah, missed it! Noooooo icon_sad.gif

Probably couldn't have downloaded it in time anyway, what with being capped and all. Le sigh.

Once something is in your download history, its yours forever to download.

Strangely I downloaded "Full game" for free, but it only works like a trial and asks me to unlock it still, might have to negotiate that I downloaded it after agreeing to get it for free on the download page...

I think I am the reason that Microsoft finaly released this title. Last week I rang a contact of mine at Microsoft and wanted to know what the hell the story was with the release of this awesome arcade game. Back in March the US press released announced that this title would be released "WORLDWIDE" I waited and waited and got nothing. Then for those of you who picked up the Xbox 360 mag Oct issue would of noticed that it game with the demo of TMNT 1989 on the cover...but you couldn't unlock it. After I spoke with my contact he asked me to send an e-mail with all those details above...I did that on Monday and now the game is suddenly available...I think I will take the credit / glory for this one! icon_wink.gif

Pity I was slow finding out about it and didn't get it for free :/

I set up a NZ account to get this ages ago...
Damn you Microsoft, for making me assume a kiwi alter-ego.
Still, at least I can hopefully play some lag-free MP now!

Dude, you and about a zillion other people icon_wink.gif

The thread on the Aussie XBox website was 20 pages long even 3 months back, full of people hassling every company even peripherally involved.

The reason it never happened was because for whatever reason it hadn't been classified.

Ubisoft finally got around to it 2-3 months ago, when the title popped up in the OFLC's database, so we knew it'd be coming, just not when.

The NES version is still the best. Extra levels and such.

I got this for free and just realised I've somehow lost 400 points between last night and today. Could MS be charging everyone who got it for free? That's just not nice.

I wonder what happens if you snagged it for free and had no points. Would you wake up the next day in a bathtub of ice and a couple of scars on your sides?

No way, the NES verison was ugly and missing tonnes of animation frames. I remember being bitterly dissapointed as a kid getting the NES verison and rocksteady not looking anything like the arcade coutner part nor sounding like it either.

This is a great arcade port.

When I got it for free I had 300 points, could explain why it is now only a trial.

Well I think I only ever played it on the NES, or at least mostly on the NES, so for me it holds a special place in my gaming heart (which is separate from my normal human heart).

From what I remember I prefer the NES animation/graphics and was very underwhelmed when I picked up the XBLA arcade port. Still good either way really.

Oh I know all the fans of the game were making posts on the internet (for about say... the last 6-7 months) But the thing is, big companies sometimes just don't give a turd what people are "posting" on the net. I actully rang my MS contact directly with a "wtf" "please explain" sort of tone (I wasn't rude just wanted answers) And I believe that when I mentioned the fact that MS released the demo but blocked the full version from being unlocked questions at MS would of been asked:

A. how much money are we losing cause of this
and
B. how pissed off are people getting if they are calling about this...

either way I am glad the game is out, and I am glad to all those people who did make posts, I just think that it was my phone call that got there ass into gear.

I tried. But, I wasn't quick enough. Still, I tried out the trial version and come to think of it, I'll rather play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time from the Super Nintendo days.

Well, if it was you that made this happen could you also try getting Boom Boom Rocket up there as well? icon_smile.gif

Been waiting a long time for that one too!

Whats the story with Boom Boom rocket...I don't know anything about that title. Did Australia get jibbed on that one too while other countries play it?
