Rock Band campaign is offline only

360 News | You'll have to cancel that World Tour...
Harmonix has confirmed that the World Tour campaign mode to feature in upcoming game Rock Band will be an entirely offline experience.

"Band World Tour, and consequently the endless setlist, doesn't have an online mode. It was something we really wanted in there but the time to do it, and do it right taking into account all sorts of mostly unforeseen but very important things, was seriously prohibitive," said Community Manager Sean Baptiste.

Although only the quick play modes will be available for online play in this version of Rock Band, it's certainly not out of the question for the future.

"It is something we are totally working for in the future as not only do you want to play it but so do we (more than you know)," says Baptiste.

Rock Band will be available early next year.

So the name of that playmode then is a bit of a misnomer in this day and age...

I suppose you could liken that rationale to the fact the game is called "Rock Band" and that you aren't really in one. I agree though, misnomers are all a part and parcel of replicating an experience in one form or another. They go a long way to making you feeling there, when you really arent. Take the cereal "Just Right". It says it is, and it would be lovely to think it is indeed right, but is it? Is it really?

Its good to see that Harmonix are trying their hardest to bring this grand online function to fruition (at one stage or another). Me? Ill just be happy to 'rock out' to this with some good friends.
