Tetris Splash doesn't fundamentally change the gameplay of Tetris and nor should it be trying to. The title simply refers to the fact that the game is now set in an aquarium while everything else remains the same. In Tetris Splash, players can you choose from either single player or multiplayer.
Good old Tetris, ah the time we've wasted with thee.
There are two single player modes; marathon and forty lines. In the marathon mode, you just play until you simply run out of space with the objective being to get the highest score. You can select which level to begin at, as long as you've previously reached the level. The forty lines mode requires players to clear forty lines as fast as possible.
The multiplayer options are pretty good as well. You can play local multiplayer, which is basically a marathon match, or online multiplayer. For the online multiplayer you can select either a custom match (which can be ranked or unranked) or you can just jump into a quick game. Overall Tetris Splash doesn't contain as many variations upon Tetris as the higher priced retail options, but as long as it has marathon mode most people are likely to be unphased as generally, the other modes are just gimmicky filler content.

Achievements in Tetris Splash are relatively easy to obtain, with only the old school achievement (which challenges players to complete the marathon mode) really likely to challenge players. Achievements are unlocked for both single player and multiplayer as well. In terms of lifespan Tetris Splash really is the type of game players could return to frequently. Tetris still has not got boring after all these years, so we can't imagine many people tiring of the game. The multiplayer is sure to be a favourite as well. There is already some downloadable content up for Tetris Splash which turns your game into a virtual aquarium and for 50 points per pack, players may want to download one of these packs (but only one). We recommend the Marine Angelfish bundle.
Overall, Tetris Splash is a game that is easy to recommend. There is a decent amount of content in the game and playing in multiplayer, offline or online, is highly enjoyable. At only 800 points, Tetris Splash is good value and anyone who enjoys Tetris should have no hesitation in picking up Tetris Splash. The only real question is how many people haven't already picked up a Tetris game already.
