Project Gotham series to continue beyond PGR4

360 News | Bizarre won't be involved.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Activision had acquired Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations.

With Project Gotham Racing 4 just a few short weeks away, the future for the franchise beyond the fourth title looked grim, but Microsoft has revealed that it plans to continue the PGR franchise, according to TeamXbox. The site also claims that Microsoft Game Studios own the IP which means that a PGR5 is likely, but Bizarre Creations won't be at the helm.

has long has they keep the core gameplay the same has it is (what makes PGR) then it should be alright, however it would be interesting what new titles of PGR will be like (features etc etc).

MSR was made by Bizzare but owned by Sega, so in some way the style of it will continue.

So if Bizarre being bought hurt anything, it hurt bizarre icon_confused.gif Ohwell I hope the next bunch who make PGR do it just aswell, quite fun imo. And I hate most driving games. I found driving cars in GTA more fun.

Neither Microsoft nor Bizarre will be hurt from this separation. Microsoft get to continue the PGR license and Bizarre get to make some new games that will be massively anticipated by their fans, so it's win-win for the both of them. Plus, Bizarre and Microsoft could end up working together in the future anyway. Just because Activision own them now, doesn't mean we won't see Bizarre titles on the 360 or even the Arcade. icon_smile.gif

Thats right sorry, forgot a 3rd party bought them icon_razz.gif

Ohwell if Bizarre are as good at making other games as they are good at PGR, it should be something to look forward to.

does this mean that PGR5 could be on the PS3?

No, Microsoft own the rights to PGR. You might see an equivalent game under a different name across other platforms though, just as Bizarre did Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast before Microsoft bought them.
