Halo 3 officially released

360 News | One-in-four Xbox 360 owners have pre-ordered the game in Australia.
Whether or not you buy into the Halo hype or not, today is a big day for gaming in general. Microsoft expects the first day takings for Halo 3 to exceed the money taken by the Spider-Man 3 film, which was a huge hit earlier this year.

Halo 3 has officially launched in Australia and is now available at your local game shop. David McLean, Director of Xbox, says, “Excitement couldn’t be higher for ‘Halo 3’. An astonishing one-in-four Xbox 360 owners have pre-ordered the game in Australia and we’re expecting ‘Halo 3’ to set new sales records for not just video games but the entertainment industry at large.”

Yeah i pre orderd it a few days before launch. The collectors editon came in the post first thing in the morning. But after seeing ign un packing the legandary editon in the video i had to get that it look so cool. Rang around every where. Luckly Domayne in Campbelltown had one Helmet left.

I own both, and I'll say this I care not for Halo 3 or the 360's **** build quality. Its truly disgusting.

I just beat the game. It was amazing.

The problem with Halo was that yeah, I'll admit, Halo 1 was a fun game (on Co-operative only but) but Halo 2 and Halo 3 do not change anything. The story hasn't even expanded. It's just a simple FPS. If it was called Brute Wars or Chief:Brute Times or some other name which had nothing to do with Halo it'd get crap scores. You know it's true.

1 in 4 preordered. Thats nuts. I wonder how many people will pick it up just off the shelf.

It seems the Halo <3 is far greater than those with only lukewarm feelings or even hatred towards the franchise.

Fantastic maiden post. When Microsoft gets around to 'correcting' the current 360 hardware, I just may buy one!

I hope everyone enjoys their Halo 3 experience.

Just because the game doesn't spoon feed you each syllable of the story line doesn't mean that there isn't one there. Granted, as a stand-alone game it doesn't do the the best job of conveying the finer points - I'll agree to that. But the story behind the trilogy (and especially the wholly fleshed-out universe) are far and beyond many of the movies people rave about these days (let alone a good deal of other games).

I don't think I would have enjoyed the game half as much if I hadn't watched the cutscenes from the past two games immediately before playing - All the main story points were fresh in my mind, and I had a nice reminder of the parts of the earlier games that I enjoyed so much at the time.

Edit: And of course, a neg is as good as a counter argument...

Picked up my Legendary Edition yesterday in a box the size of the one the 360 came in :O damn that thing is nice, if was just 5-10% bigger you could wear it.

The game is kicking my ass at the moment, I'm so out of practice.

Lucky for me Microsoft have began a disc recall and free replacement for the scratched discs till the end of the year:
http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/games/discreplacement-program.htm

Expected delivery in for Europe and America is approx 2 weeks from when you send in your disc, to get a form in Asia Pacific we need to call the phone number on the site and they'll send it out.

I think I'll beat the game and wait till I bore of it before sending it away though.

I don't get what you're saying, you'll finish it, get bored of it and send it away to get it replaced by the same game?

And it costs $25 but the amusing thing i found was this :

No replacement will be made if less than 90% of the damaged disc is enclosed.
Will they be using a ruler to determine that? And that would be one hungry xbox.

Its a free replacement till the end of the year, I'll be waiting till I have finished it before sending away as it would mean I'd be without it for a couple of weeks. If that's any clearer.

That bit in bold has not been added to the Australian site (yet?) when you change the bit in the URL to en-AU, but it shouldn't be a problem getting them to do it given the wording of that US site.

Apparently there are a few people which have found that their discs' are scratched when being purchased and taken out of the case. But to continue to charge them for a replacement when its arrived like that? pretty disgusting.

hopefully once the better SKU's come out, i'll be able to pick this and its other two games to finally see how the story evolves.
