Halo 3 ending leaked online

360 News | No, it's not in this news post.
As if fans and haters alike were not already begrudgingly being barraged with an overdose of Halo information, today comes news any anticipating gamer dreads -- especially with barely a week left before an official release date.

According to Kotaku, a lucky and somewhat plucky individual has posted the ending of Halo 3 onto the interwebs, marking the second notable instance of Halo 3 related leakage in as many weeks. From what a few of us Halo indifferent types can attest to, the video appears to be legitimate, if somewhat dreadfully low in visual and audio quality.

We'll hold back from spoiling anything, at least for the sake of our forums. Far be it for us to directly link to video here, just remember -- nobody's forcing you to search for it on your video tubing website of choice.

If anyone dares spoil anything about the ending in this thread, or elsewhere on PALGN without masking their spoilers (if you don't know how to mask them, then just don't post), then expect severe penalties. Remember, you can spoil an ending without actually saying what it is (I can't stand when people mention a 'twist' in a movie and then say they won't spoil it, because they have by creating the expectation of a twist).

Although El Taco has posted a leak in the Halo 3 topic in the MS Forum.

Why anybody would want to spoil the ending of such an anticipated game/trilogy is beyond me.

Just don't spoil it for me.

Same reason why people walked around Bookstores spoiling Harry Potter while others lined up.

Some people are simply dickheads.

Edit: if you meant 'spoil it for oneself' then I guess the whole 'curiosity killed the cat' thing applies

Can someone point me in the right direction of a website for info on what Halo 1 & 2 were about? Please. And I don't mean pages of garbage about the pre-story and all these filler stories, I just want to know what the hell I was doing when I shot up all those aliens in parts 1 & 2.

I may sound ignorant, but I fair dinkum played and finished parts 1 & 2 but I wasn't engaged by Halo's in a way that I actually understood what the game was about, like I know I was saving the universe or something by blowing up some alien spaceship that looked like a ring??? But not actually completely understood the story like in Halflife or other cheaper FPS games.

No offence intended to any Halo 3 worshippers. I too anticipate the release of Halo 3 but for the next gen stuff more than the story, and I'm trying to get into the story. Thanks.

Or for an even briefer rundown than Wiki, head here: http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/games/h/halo3/articles/20070823-thestorysofar.htm

I've only played Halo 2 and spent most of the campaign struggling to understand what was going on. This page answered pretty much all my questions. icon_smile.gif

Watched it earlier this morning, it was a good enough ending i guess... I wanted a massive hour long ending sequence though... can't wait to see it in all it's HD glory after i take the day off from work.

I think it'll be best if everybody on the forum just acts as if the game's ending hasn't been released yet.

That'll prevent alot of m****f**** angriness.

I can't beleive you would want to know what happens, and then still want to play it?

I don't know if this forum is rated PG or not, but the climax is the climax. It's the climax because it comes at the end???

Man, I might stop surfing the web until I play Halo 3. I seriously don't want to know what happens.

its a really blury video you cant see too much and the sound is bad too. i watched it because i dont think i can be bothered to buy an entire console to play the game

How was what I said in any way a spoiler? Because my post was deleted and I'm assuming it was you?

When you start talking about what you think of the ending and why, then you start to spoil it. This is one of the biggest games of the year, and the conclusion to one of the biggest trilogies of the past several years, so there's lots of people on these forums that do not want to unwittingly read what you have to say about that conclusion. This thread is for discussion of the leak, not of the game's ending. If you want to discuss that, create a new thread on the Microsoft Gaming Talk forum, or at the very least, mask anything you have to say with spoiler warnings so people can decide for themselves if they want to venture into the realm of possible spoilers.

I've set up threads for Halo 3, Spoilers must only be posted in the spoiler topic, which can be found here:

True dat fatpizza, I noticed your post got taken away, it was definitely borderline spoiler. I convinced myself that you were talking about something else like the quality of the video or something.

I most appreciated it when my mate helpfully answered my question at the beginning of the Sixth Sense:
SPOILERS
Me: Why isn't he (Bruce Willis) talking back to her (His Wife)?
Mate: He's dead!
Me: Have you seen this?
Mate: Yeah.

/SPOILERS

Obs Edit: I agree with Tootie - this is a MAJOR spoiler to a film that doesn't deserve to be spoilt. try be a little considerate to people who may not have seen the film in future.

I think that's a bit more appropriate in case there are people on here who haven't seen the movie yet.

TOOTIE_KICKS, The Sixth Sense was released 8 years ago?

1. Great films are timeless, so it shouldn't matter when someone first sees them (or were too young to see them originally).

2. I'm having a bad day at work, so I was p!ssed off at that point in time and am sorry that I came across too harsh (although you do realise that you put a spoiler in this thread, about people being angry at spoilers, don't you?).

EDIT: expanded point 1.

EDIT2: woot! 700 posts!

hahaha, I'm not going to let this go. It's only a spoiler while there is hype about it being released.
no, it's a spoiler because it SPOILS a part of the plot.

it doesn't matter how long afterwards it is, it's the same situation for The Empire Strikes Back, as it would be for some film showing right now.
likewise Final Fantasy 7, or even Metroid compared to whatever happens in Halo 3.

there are potentially people who haven't seen either, and mentioning certain elements only spoils other people's enjoyment.

feel free to disagree all you like, but this is in line with the rules of the forum and as a member and user, you need to abide by them or you can be banned.

You know, i gotta side with old mate here, there's a certain buffer period for games, movies, books etc etc.......lets just pull a random number and say 5 years.

imo, as long as you give a decent amount of time and respect those who are really interested in the entertainment medium at hand and don't spoil it for them , by the time you start talking about spoilers 5 years down the road.......they aren't spoilers anymore, because the only people that could be potentially spoiled by them have(if they are so called 'fans') already seen the movie, played the game, ate the burger anyways.

Let's just get this straight, you surely don't expect me to spoil tag tha darth is luke's daddy???

"WHAT A TWIST!!"
M. Night Shyamalan - Robot Chicken

Anyway, stuff the ending, couldn't care less, I'm more worried about how many bullets i'll have left in my clip than whatever the ending is......

still though, I'm not going to go looking for it and they are wankers icon_exclaim.gif

Jibbs - Don't know about you, but I am on a never ending hunt for obscure **** horror films, point is there is always a few out there that escape the net, I wouldn't be impressed no matter what year it was made.

Everyone has to see a film for the first time at some stage, including star wars.

i get where you're coming from, but i don't really see how tell that something has been out long enough for people to be spoilt at their own risk.

true, some twists have become a part of common lexicon, such as "I am your father", but then i also think that to someone who has never seen the Star Wars film, given that the prequels don't hide the fact as the original films did, it's no longer a twist, but a statement of fact (ditto that Yoda is not some buff superhero, but rather the little green guy).
without the prequels, i would certainly expect that element to be spoiler-tagged.
just like i expect certain parts of Final Fantasy 7's plot to be tagged.

a film like The Sixth Sense relies on it's plot devices, and it doesn't become retconned by any previously set films, so in this regard i think it's perfectly valid to be annoyed that the plot could be spoilt.
especially in a thread regarding plot spoilers - it seems kind of logical to me to label spoilers on anything in a thread pretty much dedicated to spoilers.

perhaps a more useful gauge would be:
If the spoiler has been made into a joke in The Simpsons, feel free to talk about it widely.
