Bioshock demo sets records

360 News | A sequel on the way as well.
Bioshock has been in the headlines for all the right reasons lately, the game is a simply amazing experience and we think the more praise the title gets the better.

2K Games has sent out a press release this morning confirming the demo for Bioshock is the fastest demo ever downloaded on the Xbox Live Marketplace, with over 1 million downloads chalked up since the demo's release on August the 12th.

“We are really pleased that Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Marketplace has managed to attract a record number of gamers to its site to download and check out BioShock,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. “The overwhelmingly positive response is not only reflected in the traffic to Xbox LIVE, but the record breaking score reported by Metacritic. We’re excited about the reception the fans have given BioShock and are honored that the game has been recognized as ‘Game of the Year’ material.”

According to Kotaku during a conference call today Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick stated "Clearly, we have a hit new franchise on our hands", he continued by saying he expects a three year development cycle for the Bioshock IP, so around about 2010 we should be able to get our hands on Bioshock II, wonder if retailers are taking preorders yet?

cool - and the 3 year cycle makes me happy, as this, to me, doesn't seem like a rushed cash-in.

I completed Bioshock a few days ago and while I rate is as a fun title, the later parts of the game just got too samey for me. It's like it lost it's momentum and the stuff that was fun in the beginning such as Plasmids, Gene Tonics and Hacking, got really bland later. I was hoping for more diversity in enemies and for way more Plasmids that we got (some were actually quite useless.. Cyclone Trap anyone?), by the end of it, I was just 'Buying Out' hacks because I was so over doing it.

[kinda spoilerish]The last boss is also no problem using the Chemical thrower and Electric Gel combo, and im glad I used the Bink Video viewer to check out the 'bad' ending, because it wouldn't have been that rewarding on the second play through (which I doubt ill ever undertake).[/kinda spoilerish]

The game started fantastic, but I dont know.. it just wore thin for me after a while. Did anyone else who completed the game find this? I'd still recommend it to fans of FPS though. When it comes to grandmaster, nothing tops it for me more than Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines though. Now that was diverse immersion! Want 'scare the absolute sh*t out of your pants' gameplay? Three words for you, my friends: Ocean House Motel ..
