FIFA 08 to feature Australian A-League

360 News | Goal!
At an event current being held to celebrate the Australian launch of FIFA 08, EA have announced that the Hyundai A-League teams will feature in the game. This is the first time the A-League will be a part of the FIFA series.

FIFA 08 will include 620 licensed teams under 30 leagues (including all 27 leagues from FIFA 07). More than 15,000 players will be included. FIFA 08 will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, DS and just about every other platform out there on September the 27th.

Hmmm, considering the crap skill ratings they always give to the Australian national team, I envisage an even worse depiction of A-League players. I've always wondered what a player thinks when games such as this and Football Manager give them a crap skill rating.

This was announced two weeks ago.
Here is some footage.

"EA have announced that the Hyundai A-League will feature as a team in the game"

Do you mean 'A-League teams will feature in the game', as opposed to 'a A-League team'? ie, sounds like it will only feature 1 team of A-League players the way it's written.

^Fixed.

Yeah, I did see that before I wrote the article, but we didn't get official confirmation from EA until now.

^ Yeah, sorry to be picky - just you never know with games, they might have just put in an A-League 'all-star' team or something. This is a good move and really shows how far soccer has come in the last few years in Aus. This game will already sell v. well but this is a good inclusion.

yeah, Perth Glory vs Real Madrid, should be an interesting match up icon_smile.gif
Hopefully someone thinks of a way to let people take their favourite team online rather than having to resort to taking the stock standard terror teams.

According to your release list, the Wii version comes out September 27th too.

Why wasn't that mentioned?

I've edited these in now, James just forgot the platforms.

Old news, but welcomed news. Proof will be in the gameplay. Go PES 2008!

Looking forward to this. 07 on the 360 has a shamble, so if it can match 06, well I'm set for many a late night.

Will be nice using the Victory early on, then moving to Man City and taking Archie with me icon_biggrin.gif

Muscat looks good but why does Archie look like he is Caucasian with blond hair

nice. every year ive hoped that ea would include some aussie teams in fifa as far back as the days of fifa '97. so its a nice surprise. i am also worried though about what has been previously said about the player skill ratings. i hope they aren't exaggerated (e.g Juninho having a rediculously higher skill rating because of his past rep compared to the other players in the A-League). However, beggers can't be choosers and im just happy that the A-League makes an appearance.

Why ever would they do that to team that dominated the Asian Cup? icon_rolleyes.gif

Seriously though, this is great news for the sport in Australia.

Ah, another impatient person who thinks success should be instant. I don't think there is any disgrace in being defeated by the eventual winner and going out on penalties, Asian teams, as proven, are pretty good, but of course most world cup spots go to Europe and South America therefore it isn't very often that we see these teams on a world stage. Which is unfortunate, because we totally underestimated them. icon_redface.gif

Oh and Spain is always rated well in these games, and what have they ever done, that's right nothing.

Spain are rated well not because of their international success, but because of their high class players. With players from yester-year such as Raul, Luis Enrique and Fernando Hierro, to current players such as Fernando Torres, David Villa and Cesc Fabregas, of course they are always going to have a top rated team.

True. Spain are second onyl to England to have done sod all with fantastic players icon_cry.gif

That was my point in the first place, we have done bugger all, but we do have some players that were or are revered in their respective leagues. Hence we shouldn't be skill killed just because we don't perform.

Yes I am well aware of who is in the Spanish team.

Ie, the team shouldn't be crap in game just because they are in real life? icon_wink.gif

Then you better insert any team that isn't Brazil or Italy into that pile also.

I wonder what Italy's diving rating will be?

at any rate let's hope it's better than fifa07 on 360

Most other teams have made it to the world cup more than twoce in thirty years, though.

Did the last Pro Evo has Australian teams in it?

No club teams but the Socceroos were licensed with real kits.

The Pro Evo series does get more clubs and teams with each year, so maybe we'll strike it lucky soon with the A-League.

True, but they haven't added any full leagues this year (not even reinstated the Bundesliga AFAIK), just a few "rest of Europe" teams, while the other stand-alone European clubs from previous seasons are now fully licensed. There are also now 20 fully licensed national teams, but the only actual new team is Israel (unlicensed).

They also have NOT changed the Master League format at all (just the presentation of it by adding cut scenes etc) which means i could resort to FIFA's manager mode for another year, and stick to Pro Evo online.

Either way i'm looking forward to both titles again this season.

still doesnt make up for EA taking out the 5v5 online mode for australians ....

every other country in the world gets it except australia

far as im concerned EA can get ****

PES 2008 all the way

if people in australia continue to buy ea games they will never change the way the treat us gamers down under , hmm who am i kidding its ea like they will ever change

from the alpha 360 version i played its shapping up to be a failure anyway
