Guitar Hero III demo coming with Tony Hawk's Proving Ground

360 News | A clever marketing tie in.
Activision has announced that when Tony Hawk's Proving Ground slides to stores on October the 10th, the Xbox 360 version will include a demo for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The demo will be available on the marketplace as well, but not until two weeks later; which is quite a decent preview.

"Music is such a huge part of skateboarding culture and pairing the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock demo with Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground makes perfect sense,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. “We’re excited to bring together two highly anticipated games and give fans their first chance to rock out with the franchise that’s taken the world by storm.”

The demo features five tracks set in the Desert Rock Tour venue. The five tracks include:

  • Lay Down (by Priestess)
  • Even Flow (by Pearl Jam)
  • The Metal (by Tenacious D)
  • Hit Me with your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benatar)
  • Rock You like a Hurricane (as made famous by Scorpions)

I don't think anyone who's ever played a Guitar Hero game really needs a demo to decide whether to get #3 or not.

And then by logical extension, anyone who might need to be swayed by the demo won't already have the guitar controller and thus won't be getting the full Guitar Hero experience...

So who's renting it, ripping it, hacking the songs so there's more than the five, and posting it on Youtube? icon_razz.gif

Makes you wonder if they even thought about it for a split second. People will be very put off GH from having to use the controller, it'd be bloody difficult, so if anything they'll end up selling less of GHIII in favour of a few more Tony Hawks games.
