skate demo released

360 News | So should Tony Hawk be worried?
The demo for EA's skate has officially gone live on the Xbox Live Marketplace, a game that may be the first true competitor that the Tony Hawk franchise has had in years . The demo clocks in at 1.1GB and allows gamers to skate around the Community Center in San Vanelona for thirty minutes.

The demo allows players to take on several challenges, but more leisurely gamers can also just spend the time skating around getting used to the controls. The game will also allow you to have a play with the video editor, giving players the opportunity to upload a thirty second video of your trick to EA. The demo should be available in Australia but not New Zealand according to MajorNelson.

Very, very worried I would think. Loved the demo, quick impressions are floating around in the Microsoft boards.

It's very hard to get into, though the tutorial helps you get over the 8 games worth of Tony Hawk conditioning (a bit). It's a much, much more realistic representation of skating, a lot slower and (dare I say it) cerebral game in contrast to the fast paced combo-fest that is THPS.

The demo's got a few tutorials, a few challenges, then a mini-compeition near the end (at which point atimer appears till the demo ends, I don't know if the entire demo was timed or just from this point forward).

Quite liked it, but I'll be buying both Skate and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. I found the controls to be quite tricky (icon_lol.gif), and I got slightly better towards the end of the demo. Despite this I did enjoy the experience, and look forward to trying out the full city (apparantly the size of Vice City in GTA).

Realistic? Slow? Bummer this might not be what I had hoped for, I'll still DL the demo tonight just to be sure but if it's what I fear then it's a good thing the next TH comes out just after it icon_wink.gif.

^ Has it actually been confirmed that this demo will be hitting the Playstation Store? I really just want another demo to try out. Preferablly something that isn't out at the moment. You know, to look forward to.

Looks beautiful, plays pretty good, different, different is good in this case, fun but timed demo sucks [30 mins, well 25 after tutorial(i suck at moving the sticks independently)]! DOWNLOAD IT NOW MAN-GASMIC!
