Bully keeps its name in Australia

360 News | No more Latin.
Last year, Rockstar renamed Bully to Canis Canem Edit in PAL regions. When Bully: Scholarship Edition was announced for the Wii and the Xbox 360 we expected that the game would go through the same title change but Rockstar has confirmed to PALGN today that the game will be called Bully: Scholarship Edition in Australia.

Scholarship Edition will allow players to return to Bulworth Academy and assume the role of 15 year old Jimmy Hopkins once again. Both versions of the game will also feature additional content, although Rockstar hasn't revealed much light on how the game will differ from its PlayStation 2 predecessor yet.

This is just silly! If the game wasn't allowed to be called 'Bully' before then why now?

Also I think this unncessary name-change in PAL territories and then a change back is just going to lead to confusion and maybe some pissed off customers.

Thats just you Ugh, you see to get pissed off at everything icon_wink.gif

Doesn't faze me in the slightest if it was Bully or Canis whatever, I just hope they don't try to charge anywhere near $100 since it is a port of a PS2 title with some slight updates.

Well I just think 2 different names for what is essentially the same game is just stupid.

It doesn't affect me in the slightest! I already have the original and have no plans on picking up some rehash/remake/port/whatever.

Also I would've preferred my game be called 'Bully' because Canis Canem Edit is long and crap and just think it's silly that if they can call it Bully now why they couldn't before?

they were never forced to change the name, iirc. it was simply done to sidestep the criticism the game was getting in the UK before it was released.

i guess now that people actually know what they're talking about, the criticism has dried up.

^ Well that's kinda exactly my point then....what was 'Canis Canem Edit' just a placeholder name then? It just makes the whole product look like it's been thrown together at the last minute.

Atleast it might make my copy a bit rarer (doubt it though).

AFAIK the PS2 version won't be changing it's name - the 'new' classic name is only for the Wii version.

Edit: Wii and 360 version. Forgot about the 360 version icon_razz.gif

^ Ahh...that's not too bad then! I thought a Ps2 version was coming out with the name change (don't know where I got that idea).

But doesn't it make you feel like the special owner of a game with a sophisticated latinised title that few understand the true meaning of?

Bully of course is a much better name, the whole public outcry on this game was stupid anyway, especially since it just got a M OFLC rating after all that fuss icon_razz.gif

Bully is a cooler name.

My PS2 version is fine so I have no need for a Wii version, if it aint broken, dont fix it

So who will be stupid enough to buy this game again not realising it's pretty much exactly the same as what they have...

Im sure people would do their research before splashing down some dosh on a non PS2 version. Then again.. nothing is foolproof to the talented fool icon_wink.gif
