However, it looks like that might be all we're seeing for a while yet. Along with announcing its financial results during a Q2 earnings call, Midway also confirmed that Blacksite: Area 51 will be delayed until November 5th for North America, and October 26th for Europe. Australia will most likely have a date similar to Europe's.
Originally scheduled for a January 2007 launch, Blacksite: Area 51 has already been through a number of delays. Prior to the announcement, the expected release date was September 2007, with some retailers locking the date into the first week of September. Unfortunately, the delay means that Midway has a single next-generation release for the third quarter - John Woo's Stranglehold. On the brighter side for Midway, November will also see the release of Unreal Tournament 3, providing some much-needed "big-name" release relief.
While a teaser demo was released back in May, Producer Harvey Smith has promised that a new demo will be released soon aimed at providing a more "cinematic story scene." While there was nothing particular new in this statement, being an almost mirror of a statement back in May, it was at least again confirmed by executives from Midway as being correct.
