Lucas Neill becomes the face of PES 2008

360 News | Neill to join Cristiano Ronaldo.
Konami has announced that Qantas Socceroos player Lucas Neill and Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo will be the faces of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 in Australia and New Zealand.

“Lucas Neill is one of the most exciting talents to represent Australian football and we’re privileged to have him as the face of PES 2008 as well as Cristiano Ronaldo who is one of the undisputed stars of world football ” stated Mark Gilbert, Marketing Director of Atari Australia. “Their dedication to the sport, unmatched talent and intensity of play is a great fit for a game that has a passionate, loyal and dedicated fanbase. We look forward to working with both Lucas and Ronaldo over the upcoming months to promote PES 2008.”

“It is an honour to be the face of a game that is the undeniable leader in football video games” added Lucas Neill. “The developers succeeded in creating a true to life game that captures the intensity, realism and detail of football in a virtual environment".

“For me there is no other game that can capture the grace and skill of football like PES 2008,” commented Cristiano Ronaldo. “Every element of the game is lavished with incredible detail, and with its close control and fast pace it is the most complete simulation of real football out there.”

Perhaps they should me more concerned with getting the game right, especially after the glaring omissions from pes6, than who is going to appear on the front cover.

I'd certainly agree with you there as far as the Xbox 360 version goes. PES 6 on the 360 was embarassingly far behind the PS2 version.

Yes i'd go to my friends house to play the big blocky version on ps2 on his viera, while my pes6 for 360 sat at home wondering why i came home smelling like a ps2 every night.

They're the Socceroos, not the damn "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Socceroos". And why won't Konami just call the damn game PES 7?

It's not a sport game if it doesn't have the next year in the title.

Honestly tossing up between Pes and Fifa this year.

^ Ill probably be going for both, Fifa sounds interesting with the zoom in single player mode but I know that Pro Evolution will still end up being the better game.

Lucas Neill for the cover is a awesome choice btw much better than Aloisi .
