Bioshock Collector's Edition confirmed for Australia

360 News | It's not cheap though.
We've expected it for awhile but 2K Games has officially confirmed that the Bioshock Collector's Edition will be coming to Australia.

The limited edition will include an authentic Big Daddy figurine, a soundtrack CD featuring selected music from the game, a DVD with a behind the scenes look at the creation of Bioshock and limited edition Bioshock steel book collector's package. The collector's edition will retail for $129.95 and the standard edition will retail for $109.95. A picture of the set can be found in our media panel.

Compared to most collectors editions with extra junk like that I think that's a fairly reasonable price for RRP. DVDcrave have it listed for $114.

Is there any indication of how limited these will be?

From what I've heard at work it's going to be a pre-order only CE, so going by that it should be pretty limited.

I pre-ordered it yesterday. +Staff Discount ftw.

I just pre-ordered from Crave with free express post. I don't even know if I really want this (too much to play with far too little time) but I may as well put my name down for this special set.

I'm thinking of getting the Collectors Edition for PC, although having it will taunt me for a while till I get my new computer.

I'm getting the CE for PC, and I'll pick up a copy of the normal version for 360 from where-ever I can find it cheapest (JB I'm guessing) to play until I have a PC that'll run it. Yeah, I'm hopeless.

I've ordered it from my EB in Camberwell. They had a $20 off if you put a $20 preorder on it deal.

I've been looking forward to this for some time. Hopefully it lives up to System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. Hopefully the release date doesn't get moved.

$130 for the collectors edition?

Yet it's $59 USD in America, which is just under $70 AUD given the current conversion rates. Why are we paying 95% more than they are?

I've often wondered this. Computer games seem to be one of those items that does not price fluctuate with the value of the dollar.

However you can bet that the price would go up if the Aussie dollar crashed.

I try to avoid buying games over the $100 mark, which usually means importing or buying from JB.

Since moving back to Australia, I really haven't been able to get used to the insane game prices.

$110? $130? Bloody hell.

I'll just import it from the US, or better still, wait and see what price Zest (in Thailand) list it for.

is $130 the XBox 360 RRP?

i ask because EB had the PC version listed as $110, and we all know how often they release something below RRP.

If this is true that EB have $20 down $20 off on the 360 Collectors Edition, then I will get it. But **** im getting sick of spending over $100 on games. I have... $40 in my savings 0_o.

Meh the game will be cool. Just a shame that companies are becoming so greedy!!!!

it's true.

I might switch my pre-order to EB tomorrow instead. Am I correct in believing that their RRP for CE is $130 and this would bring it to $110 (I'm assuming they'd pull a swifty on that RRP they have there at $110 and say that's regular edition only, even though it's misleading by making no distinction)? Am I also correct in thinking I don't need to be a part of their special group (no idea what it's called, VIP or something?) and that this is an offer open to anyone?

I don't buy games new anymore because they're too expensive.

I'll probably get this later, but at least before Christmas.

I got Forza 2 for $50 three weeks after it was out though.

they are copying what Harvey Norman are now doing.

if you pre-order a game and drop a $20 deposit on it, you will get $20 knocked off the total price when you go to pick it up.

Is any info available as to the type of collectors tin they are using(hinge, inserts etc)?
I found the Lost Planet tin to be easy to use while the Gears of War tin was a chore to use.

that page is directly from their catalogue, and the EB i went to actually has big posters up for it, so i'm assuming it's for everyone. (additionally, i'm not a member of anything to do with EB, and i still got the $20 off.)

and yeah, the $110RRP is for the standard X360 version, which is kinda mentioned, since underneath is the SKU number for that one, not the SE version. (it's a bit dodgy in that image/scan though.)

btw: www.ebgames.com.au now have the catalogues both online, and downloadable as a PDF.

Boo-Yah! I'm so glad I have a job so I can actually afford to get new games. icon_smile.gif

Might put a pre-order on today methinks. Now I'll just need my PC up and running to play it icon_lol.gif

This looks like a collectors edition to get, I wonder how big the figurine is. Hopefully not tiny like the one that came with Doom 3 on PC.
does anyone know how limited these will be? I have to wait until saturday to pre-order a copy on 360. I doubt all of them will be gone but it wouldn't be the first time eb has let me down in this department.

Look at teh figurine in the box, it looks like it's around one half of the box, which is an okay size.

Wish there were reviews out for both PC & 360 versions.... Im still undecided on which to get.

PC - Control scheme might be better given keyboard and mouse, unsure how it will run on e6400, 8800GTS, 2Gbram

360 - Big LCD and 5.1 system, controls MAY suck??

Leaning towards 360 though at this stage...

Yea well spotted Taco I was about to say the same thing, it looks like the collector's edition has a plastic window at the front and you can actually see the figurine....otherwise that's one hell of a bad drawing!

The thing that excites me most about this sort of announcement is that the game must be complete which means that 24th August date has less chance of being breached.....which means I get to play Bioshock in just over 3 weeks!! icon_drool.gif
