The game picks up Chris's story approximately 10 years after the mansion incident in the original game. The ex-S.T.A.R.S. member is now working for an organization known as the BSAA and is on a special assignment in... whatever country the trailer showed turns out to be. Producer Jun Takeuchi explained that the game's story will fill in some details on Chris's past as well as "things that were not resolved in Resident Evil 4." Whilst the game will utilise RE4's gameplay style, it will also include new features that Takeuchi wasn't prepared to comment on.
One feature he did elaborate on was the importance light and darkness play in the game. "For example, as Chris enters a building, his eyes has to gradually adjust to the dark indoors. The same can be said with the opposite where stepping out from a dark place would cause glare to his eyes." This could turn out to be a very unsettling experience, as enemies could be even less visible leaping out at you upon exiting a building than in a darkened corridor. Takeuchi also added, "The enemies this time are not zombies nor are they Los Ganados either, but are quite smart, human-like creatures. One of the main theme in this game is that Chris is fighting for a cause that is not really clear. Is he fighting for good or evil?" Whatever he's fighting for, count us in.
