Moore's depature from Microsoft unrelated to warranty extension

360 News | "It's purely about my family." - Peter Moore.
Speaking in a podcast with Microsoft's Larry Hryb (also known as Major Nelson), newly appointed EA Sports president, Peter Moore has said that his departure from Microsoft is unrelated to the warranty extension surrounding the Xbox 360 and its notorious "red rings of death."

"[It's] completely and utterly unrelated to anything that's gone on within the business... It's purely about my family," Moore stated. "This agreement between myself and EA was signed about five weeks ago, way before any of the final work that was done on the warranty," he continued. "It was completely unrelated."

Moore went on to discuss his work at Microsoft and revealed that the company's current plans for the future will be "coming together over the next few years."

"The deals we have in place, whether they're marketing, whether they're publishing, the incredible expertise we've built at Microsoft Game Studios and perhaps most importantly Xbox Live and the headstart that service has got - all of that's going to come together over the next few years."

"I may have to pay attention to some of the other guys in my new role," Moore added, acknowledging his new work will be directly linked to some of Microsoft's industry rivals such as Sony and Nintendo. "But I think everybody understands the pride that I take in where we are today."

Just thought I'd throw in the news that X07 has been canceled overnight also, so it has been a bad couple of days for Microsoft as of late.

X07 canceled?! Verification please!
Crest is right, X06 was pretty bloody big and it'd be a huge loss (for news/video hungry gamers if no-one else) for this years event to be pulled. Say it isn't so...

I hope this doesn't mean an EA bias towards Microsoft.

Still all things considered its not much of a loss cause I don't play EA games anyway.

Except SSX!
