GTA IV Episodic Content Exclusive to Xbox 360

360 News | Take Two confirms.

A Take Two spokesperson has confirmed to GamesIndustry.Biz that the planned episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360.

A company representative confirmed to the GamesIndustry.biz that "The Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content is exclusive to Xbox 360." Grand Theft Auto IV is set for release in October on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. It's unknown exactly what content will be included in these episodic packs or how they'll be priced, but we should know soon enough, and as soon as Take Two sheds light on the inclusions we'll report back.

if you're buying a 360/PS3 primarily to play GTA4 - the exclusive episodic content could be the 360 deal clincher.

Well, yea. This is bad. If your waiting for GTA4 to make up your mind on 360 or PS3. Alot of people WILL get the 360.
But also around the release of GTA the PS3 has some great exclusives that can help make some fans just get the PS3.

I do have PS3, and i am looking forward to GTA4. Not having these exclusive episodic content is fine by me. I wasnt going to buy GTA4 for that. But Yes, this will disappoint quite a few PS3 owners.

But also, Its only people like us "Hardcore" Gamers who really care.
The average Joe will not care or even know about this. I mean, Average Joe cant even find the Print Button on Word OR even Rip a CD via the PS3 option.

I've been aware of exclusive GTA 4 episodic content for the 360 since E3 2006. It was announced by Microsoft at its press event, as was GTA itself. The press release promised "hours of new gameplay content". I still bought a PS3.

Yes, I completely agree with that one.

Reminds me when I was trying to convince a certain PS3 fanboy from school (who was completely sure that the PS3 wasn't released in the USA or Japan yet heh) that Oblivion was also on the 360, and actually came out on it first, like a year before. And then the tears when I explained to him that the Fifa games actually come out on the GC and Xbox as well, and are not exclusive to the PS2. And then when I had to explain what a GC was.. /me sighs..

has there been any mention that maybe there was extra stuff on the PS3 version to begin with due to having more storage space?
Im not sure if there has ever been any mention if both versions will be identical and then the 360 will extra stuff afterwards?

Could anyone please help me with this info as I honestly havent seen anything regarding
both games being the same from the get go.

Lets get that straight. They were having problems with Core 360 systems (ie no HDDs). Big difference there mate

Yea i know. But Rockstar had signed to release the game for Both consoles at the same time. Rockstar obviously made this mistake and they realized it when they found out that 360 is limiting the game lol.

None of the Xbox fans have made a negative comment.

I too had wondered if the PS3 version was going to include the bonus Xbox content on the disc from the get go rather than it being 100% exclusive to the platform.

You say both the PS3 and 360 are identical games although I am yet to see rockstar
say that is the case, Im not syaing it is but Im just a little curious.

BTW i am a 360 owner.

Im pretty sure Rockstar/Taketwo knew the 360 didnt have a HDD as standard when they signed. If not they obviously dont deserve to be making games for the system.

Alot of Casual gamers still know how to make a correct desicion. If i had to make a consumer choice to buy a system for one game i certaintly would not choose the more expensive system.

I dont understand why these developers bring up news from a year ago

hmm while i'm a ps3 owner i'm not too concerned with the overall news since as said before this was mentioned at e3, i guess what most ps3 owners are coming to terms with is that even though it was announced before we still had a little glimmer of hope that ti could also extend to the ps3.

but i'm more interested in seeing how much extra 360 owners are going to have to pay for this extra content now.

I'm not against Microsoft- If I actually had the money, I'd have a X360 as well. It's really only Sony I'm not too fond of. It really hurts when you trip up on their egos.

*sigh* Congratulations PALGN and all the other gaming media for totalling ballsing up that story. At no stage did Rockstar ever say that the 360 was limiting the game, yet that's what was reported and that's what the (ignorant) are remembering.

i just read the take 2 report all it said was 2008 announced to date titles which had gta 4 content for xbox 360 no ps3, but that doesnt mean they wont release other content on the ps3 and announce it later, or even have more content on the blu-ray. you just have to wait till more details closer to release date. but still im gonna be happy that i can play on the ps3 anyway

owell i'll still get gta4 for ps3 coz gta is kool all up, with or without content
