Xbox 360 software sales hit the 1 million mark in Australia and New Zealand

360 News | That's a lot of discs.
Microsoft has announced today via a press release that it has sold 1 million Xbox 360 software units in Australia and New Zealand since the system's launch in March last year. The mile-stone number has also set a new record which Microsoft pointed out as showing: "gamers across the region have resoundingly declared that the Xbox 360 is their next-generation console of choice."

Daniel Morse, Account Director, GFK Australia, stated, “Hitting the one million mark in a mere 14 months means Xbox 360 has reached the milestone faster than any previous console, and is currently outperforming other next generation consoles in terms of software sales. Titles such as Gears of War, Saints Row and Call of Duty 2, the top three selling Xbox 360 games, have played major roles in the success of the platform.”

Microsoft also took the time to point out a few interesting facts:
  • After a year on store shelves, the Xbox 360 console had the highest ever software attach ratio with the average consumer owning over 5 Xbox 360 games.
  • Over 160 high definition games are now available for the Xbox 360.
  • The number of available Xbox 360 games is expected to increase to 300 by the end of 2007 including Grand Theft Auto IV, Halo 3 and Bioshock.

Shame about Forza 2 though... hopefully Gran Turismo 5 works out well.
Whats the shame about Forza 2? So far I have only seen good reviews / scores?? What have I missed? icon_sad.gif

The shame is that I don't have/planning not to get a 360. The game itself looks unreal.

I am not surprised at all at this announcement, actually. I haven't even had my 360 for a year and I already own 20 games. That's going to increase massively as I continue to play catch up with all the awesome titles that are already out and that's not mentioning all the brilliant titles that are on the way... Hell, I'm getting two (maybe 3) games this month alone. Brand new.

360 = win for gaming at the moment, without question.

I've had mine close to 6 months and I've got 9 retail games + 2 arcade games so yeah I'd say Microsoft's strategy is working out alright.

Oh sorry I misunderstood, I thought you had a 360 but thought Forza 2 was crap.
