GTA IV Special Edition RRP confirmed for Australia

360 News | An enticing price?
Last week Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV would be getting a special edition for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. The RRP for GTA IV will be $89.95 in America.

Rockstar has confirmed to PALGN that the game will retail for $149.95 in Australia. What will you get for that? Well, we're glad you asked because you'll get a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3, a Grand Theft Auto IV Art Book featuring never-before-seen production artwork from the game, a selected soundtrack CD from the game, featuring new material from top artists only available on this CD. The actual game will also be presented in a customised GTA metal safety box and you'll even get an exclusive Rockstar keychain for the safety deposit box and a limited edition Rockstar duffel bag.

Well time to import the USA copy, I will still have a little change from my $150

This may be my most treasured gaming franchise of all time but I am not stupid enough to pay that price for those 'extras'. An art book you might glance at once then never look at again, a 'selected' CD soundtrack that'll you'll listen to once and skip the songs you don't like, a key chain which admittedly sounds like the only decent thing of the lot, and a duffel bag? Wtf? I was half expecting a pencil case to show up in that list.

Then again, this is my most treasured gaming franchise of all time... Nah. Hell no.

Would never buy it, but it's good to see REAL Collector's Editions coming through, instead of the token extra map or whatever and $20 extra on the RRP. If I really liked the game, I'd rather a bevy of items for $50 more than a couple of gimmicks for a few bucks extra.

Do we still get that nifty sounding safety deposit box? If so I think I'll lay down a pre-order tomorrow; of course, if it turns out that the US copy works on PAL consoles then I might just get that one instead.

What is with all these special/collectors/money **** editions spawning now? It's quite ridiculous. They'll probably release it a week before the normal edition, like some of the others.

I already have the PS3 Collectors Edition ordered, looks like I'll order the 360 version too.

I've never cared for special edition games. I just want to play the game, merchandise just doesn't appeal.

Just a word of warning - if you plan to buy the SE, don't get it from a city store, the results of carrying a duffel bag around the city could be ..... messy.

Just thought I'd let you all know that DVDcrave has em both for $132.

Will we seriously be getting GTAIV here in October, or will we get raped and not get it until half way through next year while it gets censored to $hit?

I'll be importin' methinks...if its region free. icon_sad.gif

I do hope the price over here is closer to the US version... won't be though, it'll end up being the most expensive of the lot. icon_sad.gif Still probably buy it...

Jimmy, we'll get it this year. Mark my words.

Rockstar are good at hitting their dates.

LOL - I think I might just get the standard play-asia version for $60.

What makes you say that?

I can smell your words from here..

If there is any game for me worth forking out the big bicks for it is GTA. $150 is steep alright, but probably worth it.

$150 bucks is actually really decent for such a pack. Ill be getting it on the day it comes out icon_smile.gif

Because Rockstar aren't stupid enough to release it at separate times in different parts of the world. They know it will sell in the bucketloads and as such, they'll release it in all the big markets which includes us.

$150? No thank you Rockstar. If it was say $130 then I'd pay for it but the items in aren't enticing enough for me me. That said though if some does a deal with preorder with $20 and get $20 off then I might get it.

But with the other GTAs, didn't they just get held back due to censoring?

So even if they are released at the same time, we may not see it for ages..?

We got San Andreas in October 2004, so I don't see why we'd suffer a delay with this one. Most of the censorship issues with the prior GTA games came out after they'd been on sale for some time.
