First next-gen Riddick screenshots

360 News | Looking lovely.
Starbreeze Studios has today released the first screenshots for the upcoming The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, the PS3 and Xbox 360 remake of its original Riddick title released for the Xbox and PC back in 2004.

The remake will include an all-new chapter to extend the story, online multiplayer, a developer's commentary mode and a coat of next-gen paint, which you can fix your eyes on by heading to our Media Panel.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is expected to be released later this year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Nice looking screens, but I noticed you weren't supposed to capture those screen shots, could you get into trouble icon_wink.gif

in all honesty, i don't really see a lot of difference between those screens, and what i played on PC.

maybe it's just my memory playing tricks though, so perhaps i should re-install it.

I don't actually see too much difference in those screens from even the xbox version. It all just looks like it's a higher resolution than what was on the Xbox and quite honestly on the PC those resolutions back then could've actually been a reality so I don't doubt it one bit.

The thing which really turns me off is the colours....it's all so orange/brown....like everything in the game looks the same colour. That stuff really irks me cuz creating atmosphere/immersion imo needs a lot of variation. Sure it looks cohesive but it also looks so boring. Regardless I am thinking of pickup it up because the AI and gun battles from the short go I had (a while ago) were quite cool.

Thats exactly what I thought..

And the re-make treatment is still stupid in my book. It sounds like the directors edition of the directors edition for PC so far icon_confused.gif

Judging by those screens alone, it doesn't look like the geometry or shaders have been altered at all. I agree with what everyone has said; Riddick PC + high res = these screens. Disappointing.

There might have been some new filters added. Pic 2 seemed to have been sexed up a bit from what I remember, but it has been a while since I last played the game.

Yeah it looks like the PC version and despite all the power they have they still don't have the soft shadows the PC version had.
