Halo 3 weapons, vehicles and modes revealed

360 News | Four player co-op confirmed?
Whilst many of our readers were playing the Halo 3 beta, a sneaky group of hackers have been analysing the source code of the beta to see what they could divulge about the game ahead of its release on September 26th.

And divulge they have, with TeamXbox revealing their findings, the most notable being a reference to a four player co-op mode. One sentence in the party menus reveals, "The game cannot start because all players are set to observer. Too many players for splitscreen. Only 2 players may play splitscreen co-op on the same Xbox 360 console. The party size is too large to start the game. Up to 4 players may play co-op on Xbox Live or System Link. Loading information from Xbox Live… " A co-op mode through Xbox Live has been on every Halo fan's wishlist for a long time, so it seems many prayers may have been answered.

Flamethrower in a Halo? Never thought I'd see the day, it sounds too un-sci fi for me.

The first Halo had the flamethrower in multiplayer, at least on the PC version.

Of course, just because something appears in the code doesn't mean that it will be in the final product. That said, the ist sounds fairly believable to me.

Glad to see that there's a good range of player speed options for MP, as the limited time I've had in the Beta so far has annoyed me with the slow walking. Then again, there always was something a little odd about the movement in Halo... sort of floaty.

Yeah some of those are probably gonna be saved for downloadable content. We all know how much Microsoft likes to fleece its fanbase icon_sad.gif

Sounds all good to me. Hopefully this actually come through, unlike the fighting on earth on Halo 2.

Right, I dont remember it on the console version though. Well plasma version of a flamethrower now that would seem more natural to me.

I like the sound of the Flood Multiplayer game. What on earth is the chopper?

I'm hoping that it is some sort of helicopter (please PLEASE!! icon_pray.gif ) but it could maybe be some sort of bike, or some grissly chopping/mutilating vehicle.

Sounds great the amount of extra things going in over the previous versions, espoecially the option to speed up the players as I also found the movement too yawn inducing after playing fast paced games.

Now all they need is an option for the xbox live camera so you can take a pic of your face which is superimposed on the inside of the smashed helmet after being killed with a dramatic extreme close-up to follow post 'killjoy' explosion.

oh...and pelicans, hopefully to use too. *YAY*

I heard that the chopper may be the Human Banshee? More amoured and more fire-power?
