Riddick remake confirmed

360 News | Isn't it a bit quick for the remake treatment?
Only a few days ago we reported on rumours that The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was being remade for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Well, it hasn't taken long for confirmation to come through, with UK industry magazine MCV rubber-stamping that the game is definitely in development at Starbreeze, according to Pro-G. Apparently the new game will feature an extended single-player mode, as well as brand new online multiplayer and a developer's commentary mode.

Re-makes are good for picking up on what made a product bad last time and then improve on that to make it better.

Yes.. and imho it isn't old enough for a remake. Maybe a sequel, but remake?

Yeah I agree, while Riddick on the XBox was a great game, it really doesn't need a remake yet.
They say they're improving graphics but they were already some of the best on the system and the PC version already had an extended single player campaign and the commentary mode.

I'd definitely prefer to see Starbreeze working on a sequel instead but having said all that; I'll still probably end up checking this one out again at some point.

Well its good news for people who havent played it before, but I would've preferred a sequel. If they try to charge anything over $60 it will be highway robbery.

Well Half-Life 2 was on the Xbox and is now being released on the PS3 and 360 so this is not really that big of a deal.

Yes.. but thats with Episode 1+2, plus Portal, TFC2 etc. Not to mention its a port, not a remake. This however is a complete remake of a modern game released in 2004! An enhanced port.. maybe, but not a remake.

In other news, the sky is blue, and the world is not actually flat.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End would have you think otherwise, Brendan. icon_razz.gif

I personally welcome this remake purely on the basis that I am still yet to experience the game and I have always wanted to. Sure I could pick up a cheap copy of the Xbox game somewhere, but now that this is being made I am happy to wait. I do agree however that it shouldn't be a full price game. It is also perhaps too early to be remaking it, but yeah personally it suits me fine. icon_smile.gif
