Riddick to receive next-gen remake?

360 Rumour | Starbreeze's first-person shooter possibly hitting PS3 and 360 in the future.
According to US magazine Game Informer, Starbreeze Studios is currently developing a remake for its 2004 first-person shooter The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The talk of a revival for Riddick is found in the magazine’s ‘Loose Talk’ rumour column, and states that the remake will receive a graphical boost, and will also get an additional chapter added to the game’s story.

Escape from Butcher Bay originally appeared on the Xbox and PC in 2004, and received plenty of praise for its excellent visuals and captivating gameplay – even receiving a well-deserved 8.0 when we reviewed it.

The remake could explain why the excellent shooter has yet to appear on the 360’s backward compatibility list. Or then again, this could all be rubbish.

how about a sequel instead please

I only had a couple of go's of the original so I don't particularly mind an updated version but I do think the resources could be better applied in some other game....including a sequel.

Isn't this like a $10 pc game 'cassics' now?

I think if the remade it fo 360 and charged anymore then $50 they are testing the friendship.

^ especially since it's still a damn fine looking game.

ok, no HD support (for consoles) but still, i gotta agree that anything more than $50 for such a recent game is going to be pushing things.

sequel plx.

A remake would make a sequel much easier, if they just upgrade the engine instead of recreating one from scratch. I've never had the opportunity to play the original so I'd buy it icon_wink.gif

I agree.. why waste resources on a rehash when they could create something new? The game itself is fantastic (I own it on PC), but.. this is a bum move from Starbreeze..

Well you can still find it now, so nothing is stopping you from playing it.

Yup - best $10 special going in my books. Low resolution (I think you could go up to 800x600) yet it still looks amazing. Game play is superb. Class games like this never go out of fashion.

I played the hell out of the first one on Xbox and would LOVE to see a remake on the next gen consoles as it has been so long and most of it I have forgotten except for a few choice bits in the game so it would be great to re-live in Hi-Def.
Also some extra content would surely be included for the peepz that have played through the original.....just as long as it is not via microtransactions etc. icon_evil.gif
