Rock Band makes Fender its guitar of choice

360 News | Get ready to strap on the Strat.
Guitar Hero has its Gibsons and now the game with three parents, Rock Band, is set to offer a similarly iconic brand and model of guitar. EA, Harmonix, and MTV, has announced that their plastic imitation guitar of choice will be the Fender Stratocaster.

“Our friends at Harmonix have done an amazing job of capturing the power and style of legendary Fender products within the virtual gaming experience and delivering it all in the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll.” said Bill Mendello, CEO of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Alex Rigopulos, president and co-founder of Harmonix continued the rock'n'roll onslaught stating, “The Stratocaster has been the weapon of choice for many of the world’s legendary guitarists. Giving players the opportunity to rock out using a guitar peripheral modeled after the Strat really adds to the authenticity of the experience."

Along with the Stats, there will be appearances by Roland electronic instruments and BOSS effects pedals. There are very few details on what virtual products these two companies will be contributing to your bands kit, or how they will be implemented. They are both however incredibly well-known and respected within music circles. Rock Band is currently set for a late 2007 release date on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Bah, Strats are designed for Blues music.

If they want a rock guitar they need to get the ESPs, Jacksons and Ibanezs out.

The screens for the game look great, is it a music video?

i thought that it was the telecasters that were for blues and jazz and the strats were for rock?

Would have liked to have seen a BC Rich or a Jackson but a Strat is still a good choice.

I wants to see me a Jackson, but I was going to avoid Rock Band anyway.

I prefer Gibsons to Fenders, anyway (I've got a Les Paul to call my own).

strat a jazz guitar? what about Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple they all used strats. they also were the ones that made it famous not jazz musicians

If this title will hold up the quality Harmonix has so far churned out, there will be alot of happy faces.

I got my PS2 just for Guitar Hero after sampling Guitar Hero II and its been worth every cent.

If Rockband is just as sh*t hot, this might be the reason I get a 360.

Strats are very bluesy. Very very bluesy. Their neck, wood and even their resonance indicates blues.

Plus the people who play them (Clapton, Johnson, King, etc)

not Jazz, Blues. Hendrix's music is closer to blues than rock (note the pentatonics, particularly E) and Pink Floyd were never hard rock.

Any rock guitarists these days seen playing a strat (like Yngwie Malmsteen) are only doing it because of the crazily high endorsements Fender payout.
