Forza 2 makes you a better driver

360 News | Claims director.
Forthcoming Xbox 360 racer Forza Motorsport 2 can improve your real world driving. Or at least, that's what Forza 2 director Dan Greenawalt has claimed in a recent interview with CVG.

"I think the things you learn in Forza Motorsport apply in the real world," Greenawalt told the site when asked about the link between real and virtual driving. "A lot of people can play other similar racing games - there are a lot of games that are kind of in the middle of sim and arcade - and they learn that if you're at the edge of traction and you brake, you'll get more turning. Well that's just not true, and it'll get you killed on a track.

"If you're on the edge of traction on your front tyres turning and you brake, you've now exceeded your traction and you're going to under steer straight off into a barrier. We've had people play these other games and then they play Forza and go 'wow, how come when I brake it doesn't turn more?' well, that's because it doesn't in the real world. I think we're teaching people how to drive well in a safe place. And it's less expensive than driving on a real track day."

So, empty hype ahead of his new game's imminent release, or does the man have a point? Tell us your side in the forums.

Finally some developers actually talking sense and talking about their game too.

While I love Jaffe, his blast the other day was wrong and unnessary. And Dennis Dyack has totally put me off getting Too Human. He's a complete twat.

Spat the dummy and quit blogging over comments made by (all sings point to) Joystiq.
Read about it here.

The guy has made some exceptional games, but that doesn't mean he isn't a complete dick.

Personally I find him entertaining. He has always said if his attitude in the public domain hurts the product he would step back.

This is true. Implementation of the aformentioned driving mechanics in simulation racers, Forza and GT, is a natural progression from a developers perspective. Gamers, on the other hand, may rebel against said progression and favour a more forgiving driving mechanic. Forgiving = fun?

There's a limit. But it's relative to a whichever game you're playing.

I prefer super real physics in Forza to the comedic physics in NFSU (easy cornering, but hit anything and you either stop dead or go flying into the air). As at least with real physics you know it's you that screwed up, not the physics engine.

NFS is a whole different genre to GT and Forza as far as I'm concerned.

One's an arcade racer and the other is a simualtion racer.

It's good to see that developers are now readily giving gamers an option. Plenty of franchises going round to fill each individual's tastes.

Your opinion is far more than just that, the respective games are widely recognised and promoted as such.

Yeah and its a shame when a person decides to buy NFS over GT because they don't want two of the same type of game.
