It's all about the human aspect of the vehicles. A new addition to the Career Mode will feature enhanced racer personalities, with a more comprehensive driver creation system, and intelligent, dynamic behaviour for rival drivers. The crowds will also react differently to the action - hurling beers and streaking all over the course in support of their favourite Aussie racing champion. Well, probably not, but the crowds will apparently be in greater support of their home nation.
For the true realists, an enhanced in-car view is in development, with higher levels of reaction from the driver (someone cut you off? Press the X button and see what happens - again wishful thinking). There'll be more going on outside the car too, with a variety of weather and road effects to throw your smooth ride around. The weather overhaul also features improved mid-race dynamics. For example, a sudden icy wind can freeze up the once soaked road, and ice particles will limit visibility on your windshield.
A bunch of new vehicles are lined up, including the classics like 1960s Minis and 1963 Corvette Stingrays. New tracks include a Shanghai location, two more locations yet to be announced - and a so-called "Fantasy Track". Oh, and you'll also have everything featured in PGR3.
A bunch of graphical and engine tweaks have been reported, included better lighting effects and a higher polygon count for prety much everything. Handling should be fine-tuned, and the online play physics are designed to limit the abilities of cheaters. Like anyone would ever do such a despicable thing. Finally, all the action will run at 30 frames-per-second and 720p.
It's all coming together for Xbox 360 racing fans. Expect more on PGR4 in future, and stick around for upcoming coverage of the imminent supergame Forza Motorsport 2.
