Contents of BioShock Limited Edition revealed

360 News | The people have spoken.
Unique watery shooter BioShock has been near the top of our 2007 list for some time. And today, publisher 2K gave us yet another reason to be Very Excited Indeed, by telling us precisely what we'll be getting in the Limited Edition version of the game. The contents of the Limited Edition were decided upon by the fans, who have chosen to include a "Making Of" DVD, a soundtrack CD, and - huzzah! - a Big Daddy figurine. Good choices, people.

The front of the Limited Edition will also feature an embossed design put together by the eventual winner of the Cover Art Contest - click here to take a closer look at that, and to keep yourself occupied while we all feverishly wait for a PAL release date.

I don't think thats that good for a LE..

A figurine i'll never use.. :\

Wheres the list where you were able to choose what you wanted to be included in the LE??

Oh well i dont really care as the game is sure to be SWEET.

Ignoring the opinion of the user above, I think that's a great set for a Limited Edition. I'm definitely picking it up now. Even if it was crap I'd still get it just to support them for letting the users decide, but it seems everyone agreed on a great pack.

feel free not to buy it then...

personally i'd love a Big Daddy figurine.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the idea of gamers assembling a games package translates to sales of the title.

And the figurine really sounds awesome.

Great! Really happy they chose to include multiple additions in the pack.

Can't wait to buy it.

SOLD i'll be definately getting one.
B3NBO what better LE games are out there? If this isnt good then what is? I also pre-ordered the assasins creed with the figure but this takes the cake, i'm glad they are taking input from fans too, good work.

Is it limited to a gazillion copies like the HL2 collectors edition?

I have high hopes for this title and will buy it regardless of box art and figurine, but a numbered collectors edition with some extra levels, cut scenes and customisable bits to the game plus a bundled sound track would get me incented to fork out top dollar!

Making of DVD - cool
Soundtrack CD - woot
Big Daddy Figurine - icon_confused.gif

*Looks at Doom 3 figures*

Has there ever been a figure bundled with a game that didn't look cheap? Here's hoping this is something worth getting excited about.

I'd have much rather have had that awesome looking cloth poster. At least that would have shown off the artistic side of the game.

Looks a great deal better than that happy meal thing.

Of course, I'll still be all over once it hits.

I reckon a cloth poster or map would have been way better.. but people have different opinions.

and Mantra i reckon the best LE on 360 has got to be the Lost Planet one.u got a faceplate if you pre ordered too also a figurine at some places as well as all the stuff in the box!!

I reckon that this LE is easily worth the money that they will charge. This is sold for me. The game looks great and then they release a user chosen LE and let a user draw the coverart. Now THAT is awesome.

Big Daddy figurine...its reason enough to buy it. Oh and that game, what is it called, Bioshock? Im sure that will be fine too. All joking aside, this is a great set compared to most limited editions. Yet more to set money aside for

LE having no actual extra content = useless purchase for me.

have a look in the top right of the picture Cap posted...

yeah, you get a cloth poster too. icon_wink.gif

i personally think faceplates are totally useless. i actually think they detract from the overall look of the console tbh. i just don't see the point.

in all honesty, i think this LE is close to being on par with the CEs that Blizzard produce. the only thing i think Blizzard have on this one is a hardcover art-book. if this had that instead of the manual-style artbook, then it would be damn close to surpassing it (the game itself having the final word, since as good as the game looks, i'm reserving judgement until i actually play the game.)

@Cap
i think the figure from Warhammer: Mark of Chaos was pretty awesome. you got a pewter sigil of chaos. only problem was they were packed randomly, so you got what you got. i got Tzeentch, which isn't so bad, but i would've prefered Khorne, being the god i always "worshipped" when i played Warhammer tabletop games. (at least i didn't get Slaanesh)

PC all the way baby.

Wow, and to think this game wasn't coming in a LE at one stage.

Quick questin for y'all, who's getting this for PC and whose going for the 360?? PC all the way for me.

An article on Arstechnica gives a little more info on this. It'll be out August 21 in the US, with prices at US$59.99 and US$69.99 for PC and 360 respectively. It's also interesting to note that it'll only be available from EB and Gamestop for US customers, so we may have something similar here.

I'll be grabbing the PC version of this. Probably pick it up when I grab a DX 10 graphics card.

Cloth map is a good idea - I have always liked those.

That would make sense, seeing as the Warhammer table top game contains some incredible looking miniatures anyway. Btw, I had a look around ebay and found this. Something you might be interested in?

Oh, and that picture I posted is of what people had a choice of, not what will actually make it into the LE. That's already been decided, and the cloth thing didn't make it.

And I'm not sure what platform I'll get it on just yet. If I get in on the PC, I'll need to upgrade my comp which could lead to better visuals, and I'll have better control.

If I get it for the 360, I'll have console controls (bleh), probably get shafted by microtransactions, but have it running in HD and be able to play it from the comfort of my couch.

It's a sad day when I hesitate to buy a console game due to a risk of microtransaction abuse. F**king great move there industry bigwigs icon_mad.gif

ah, fair enough.

still, useless map or useless figurine?
i'd personally take the figurine.

(the only games i've used an external map for has been the GTA games. most others are more of a hassle than a use.)

i think i have that model. nowhere near as nice looking though, i sucked at painting them, and doubt i even bothered to try with that one.

Awesome, will definitely be picking this up on the basis of it having the soundtrack alone. Big Daddy figurine will go nicely on the top of my TV though so that's another plus right there. Now is this the part where I get to say:

Must. Have. BioShock. Now.

?

I actually voted for the soundtrack first and then the artbook second. I don't really see the need for the figurine especially when as someone mentioned they are usually pretty crappy/cheapo. Still it's good to see the developers actually asking prospective customers what they would like to see in the special edition. Also the 'design the cover' competition is an awesome idea aswell.

This game is currently my most anticipated (aside from anything Resident Evil) and with the announcement of this special edition and it's contents the wait is becoming unbearable.
