More on Project Gotham Racing 4

360 News | First solid details for 360 racer.
The US edition of Official Xbox Magazine has scooped the first details on the next title in Bizarre Creations' fine Project Gotham Racing franchise. According to the magazine, PGR 4 will feature in excess of 200 tracks from 10 as-yet-unnamed locations (Sydney, please), along with a far wider and more diverse choice of cars.

Other than that, Bizarre is focusing on refining technical niceties. So, say "hello" to new weather effects, improved animations for the (already brilliant) in-car view, and a nifty vision blur effect for when your car is introduced to the business end of a wall or another vehicle. It'll be out towards the end of 2007, says the magazine, with November the likely month of release.

In the meantime, we advise you pick up the budget-priced PGR 3 - we found it quite splendid.

Sounds good, but it'll have a hell of a time, I'd imagine, standing up to Forza 2. Sure, they're different games to some people, but generally a racing game's a racing game to me.

Forza and PGR2 were my 2 favorite racing games on the xbox 1, so it should be the same for xbox360 icon_biggrin.gif.

though I have to get a 360 icon_biggrin.gif.

Sounds pretty awesome.

PGR3 was cool (though way out of my skill level). Looking forward to this one.

Yes please bring back Sydney! I loved PGR2s maps so much. Going around Sydney Harbor in my dads blue datsun was like the highlight of the whole game for me icon_razz.gif

We don't need Sydney in it. Everything's down here in Melbourne so put our city in there.

Come on now how about putting adelaide in there.

Why would cars be driving around in Melbourne when you have trams? icon_razz.gif

I fail to see the insult. Trams > the world's most redundant Monorail. icon_razz.gif

Oh please, as much as I love Melbourne as a city, you have to admit it'd be **** for a game to drive around in. It's just a bloody square, a few old trams, and a disgusting brown river.

Cerebral, how ignorant of you to call our Monorail the world's most redundant! The monorail on the Gold Coast goes from Oasis shopping centre, across the highway to the casino, and back again. It's about 200m long, connecting a shopping centre that's empty other than for the Woolworths, and a mediocre casino. There's nothing to see on the ride, and it's quicker to walk across the road than wait for a monorail.

You wouldn't say that if you've been to the Cross icon_twisted.gif Redfern I'll concede though.

Melbourne would make a crap PGR city, it would however make an awesome Burnout one.

Spanca - Sydney also has its share of 90 degree corners. Alot of people disregard Melbourne as a good PGR city, but actually we have a really diverse city, with fantastic track design opportunities, Citylink tunnel, Bolte Bridge, West gate bridge, albert park, st.kilda esplanade, around the MCG, along the Yarra, Crown Casino, Docklands. It isnt just centred around a square.

Aside from Melbourne, I would definitely want an eastern european city like Krakow or Prague, Rome would be good, an african city like Nairobi, and a South American city like Beunos Aires or Rio.

Im also hoping PGR4 graphics will be a lot better than PGR3, far too much of the track was in the shade and it really didnt show off the graphics well enough.

A more interesting career mode would help as opposed to a series of events.

Of course Sydney has right angles, I don't recall suggesting it doesn't. What I'm saying is that within its CBD, Sydney is much more interesting as far as roads and sights go. Melbourne is nice, I love it as a city and I could see myself moving there, but I just don't see it being anywhere near as attractive a location for a PGR city. It doesn't have the landmarks within a nice confined area.

I can't help but see this as more Melbournian jealousy over what its bigger brother has, again.

You're right. I am ignorant. However, the Sydney monorail still sucks and is a waste of time. icon_razz.gif

As far as the CBD goes, Melbourne is no worse than the Tokyo tracks from PGR3. And as Arbok mentioned, they city surprisingly enough, does extend beyond the grid of the CBD. I'd pay very good money to drive past the docklands, the G, or the Exhibition Centre.

Oh I know the Monorail sucks, I just wanted to make it clear that there's at least one in the world (Australia no-less!) that sucks even more!

And you know this how? Although it would be awesome if true.

Anyway, it's great to see that some PGR 4 information is coming to light. 10 new locations sounds great to me although it's pretty obvious that one of those locations will be the Nurburgring, so it'd really only be 9 cities. (unless of course they surprise us and end up having even more - downloadable content perhaps?)
I'd definitely like to see Sydney return or if not then an Australian city of some sort, but at the same time I wouldn't really care if there was no Aussie cities. I mean, there's so many awesome cities out there in the world with potentially better track design/s than what we could provide, so yeah. As nikack suggests I would love to see a wet weather night time variation; The one thing that I was disappointed to see wasn't in PGR 2 or PGR3. Last but not least, PGR 4 must have playable Boom Boom Rocket in the game somewhere. Oh and Geometry Wars 3 as well.

Heh, Yeah I walked through there at night when I was 16 or 17, Awesome freak show. I can't imagine seeing trannys on the sidelines of PGR4 though icon_lol.gif

Its not just trannys at Kings Cross though, thats where all the good clubs are icon_razz.gif To cater for 'everyones' needs hehe.

Redfern would be good you could have like a level when you have to avoid hand grenades and people getting petrol from your car, maybe the next GTA game?

Melbourne is a bit to boring to be driving about im sorry to say icon_razz.gif

Eurogamer says so!

This is why PGR series is awesome - they always have interesting and new cities to race in. Aside from PGR3 when they were pushed to get it out at launch that is.
