Limited Edition BioShock announced

360 News | Fans in "rapture" after hearing the news. Get it? Chortle.
So we're all sitting around anxiously waiting on this big quasi-underwater FPS from Irrational Games, aptly titled BioShock. We've seen trailers, screens, demonstrations - now we just want the damn game to come out already. Hype wagon be damned.

In preparation for the big release, fans were complaining to 2K about the purported lack of a limited edition version of the game with all that stuff we love to have, yet never get around to using. Still, BioShock is looking pretty gosh darn good, so maybe it'll be worth it. Anyway, 2K claimed that if an online petition received over 5000 signatures, a limited edition version would be released. for both the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. The count quickly rose to over 18,000 signatures, so 2K made the to-the-point announcement on their website: "THERE WILL BE A BIOSHOCK LIMITED EDITION!"

Cool. From there, they set up a poll asking users to vote for which extras would be included, with a Big Daddy (those badass diving suit guys with drills) figuring currently topping the poll with 38% of the votes. The other extras to vote for include a soundtrack CD, "making of" DVD, and some art, posters and soforth. It all looks good, so get over to the official website and start voting!

There is no word as yet whether this limited edition is confirmed for PAL territories, but we currently have no reason to think otherwise. BioShock is currently scheduled for an Australian launch on August 24.

I think one of those girls with a dagger would be a cool figurine instead.

This should really be categorized in the "PC News" section icon_evil.gif

I don't have any LE games so I don't think I'm going to start now.

I'd be stoked with the signed print, especially if it was an awesome image of a Daddy and little girl.

I want the soundtrack cd firstly, then the art book. It's so hard to decide as an artbook for a game like Bioshock really would be preferable....but official soundtracks are quite rare and usually hard to come by (except for specialty stores) so it just makes it easier if it came with one. Also i'm expecting the music to be very dark and moody which make for the best soundtrack imo. Still it's a tough one.

I couldn't care less about figurines or signatures. If all else fails some nice boxart and a good quality box would be nice.

Yeah a first box first and foremost, is what I voted for.

I'd really like the making of DVD if it went into the technical side of things such as their designers workflows etc.

Good to know petitions actually work sometimes icon_smile.gif

A soundtrack CD, the music score sounds great on this game

but I would give up all the extra's just to have co-op in the game just like system shock2 did even if it ment paying for it as an added extra

hope this game is as good as system shock2 was icon_biggrin.gif

I am pretty much with you there man. I voted for the OST purely because I love my video game music and BioShock's soundtrack is already shaping up to be fantastic. If the trailers are anything to by anyway.
The artbook would also be awesome because, well, the art direction and the world of Rapture is just amazing. I couldn't really care for figurines or anything like that but if included I'd happily accept them.

Infact my first though when making my vote was why not just have the package released with everything? I'd hit it...
