Beautiful Katamari returns

360 Rumour | Rolling onto all next-gen consoles soon?
Orange Lounge Radio reports that, according to their contacts in the US gaming distribution network, Beautiful Katamari Damacy is finally a reality.

What's more, it's coming to all next-gen consoles. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are scheduled for October 17th at a price point of US$39.99, while the Wii version is scheduled for November 14th at US$29.99. As this information has not been confirmed yet, no Australian pricing or release dates are available.

As reported by PALGN last November, the Beautiful Katamari Damacy trademark had already been registered in Japan. Additionally, Xboxic independently reported yesterday that Beautiful Katamary Damacy had been listed in Blockbuster's game rental database, providing some degree of validity to the murmurings.

However, Keita Takahashi, the creator of the franchise, had also previously stated that the PSP title Me & My Katamari was to be the last. On the other hand, Namco, not Keita Takahashi, owns the Katamari trademark, so in principle they're free to do what they like. Nevertheless, pending an official announcement, this news remains in rumour territory.

Sweet, great news, I was playing this only yesterday (We <3). Seems interesting that it will come on all three consoles, they will all have something unique to offer via control scheme, however no rumble in the PS3 version would suck. We <3 Katamari used rumble really well I felt.

Oh and a last thought...$29.95 US = $38 AUD + PAL tax = $79.95 AUD

I don't know how to feel about this. I remember the creator of Katamari only wanting his game to be a single standalone experience, but we've since seen a sequel and a PSP game, and now we're getting another one. I can't help but feel that Namco have taken his initial vision and begun milking it for all its worth. I can't feel good about that.

And yet, if it does turn out to be a good game with new features and so on, I'll be happy to at least give it a go.

I haven't used the PS3 controller yet. I wonder which controller will best suit the game.
