Symphony of the Night available this Wednesday

360 News | Don't forget your garlic.
After a long and arduous wait, Microsoft announced this morning that Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will be available on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday for 800 points.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night begins with the defeat of Dracula at the hands of Richter Belmont (in a small section taken from Akumajou Dracula X Rondo of Blood, which will see its first western release on PSP this year). Four years later, Richter Belmont has vanished, and Castlevania has reappeared. The remergence of the castle has caused a massive shift in power which led to the reawakening of Alucard, the son of Dracula. Alucard enters the castle to find some answers, and to stop his father once and for all.

The release of Symphony of the Night marks the first time a full console game has been released on the Xbox Live Service, as well as the first time the 50MB limit for XBLA games has been exceeded. Of course, the game will contain a number of new features including an enhanced mode which features improved graphics and audio, as well as the usual Microsoft achievement points and such.

Expect to see Symphony of the Night on Live Arcade at around 8PM AESST this Wednesday. Unless, of course, we see a repeat of this Wednesday.

You can't see me doing it - but I swear that I'm doing a little happy dance right this moment. I mean, it's more of a shuffle, but the point is that it celebrates 'happy' icon_biggrin.gif

Bring. It. On.

I've never played this game and i wasn't sure if I'd get the XBLA version as i thought it would be 1200 points. But for 800 I'll grab it for sure

Oh crap, now I really need to get me some more points. Awesome that it will finally be here though. I've been waiting for it for a while, since it will be my first Castlevania experience and all.

I doubt there'll be a problem getting this one out, Ninja Turtles was obviously complicated because Ubisoft now has the rights

I'll have a PSP by then (unless they announce a PS2 port before it's release), so I'll fight you for it!

So are you also jealous of PS1, PS2, PS3 and Saturn owners, who can also play the game?

Seriously, it's a PS1 port, not any sort of 'exclusive'.

i hope it stands the test of time...

$12 or so is not bad for a game of this caliber. I've wanted to play SOTN for ages but with the soon arriving PSP port I might get that instead.

Yes, lets definately hope that what happened with the Turtles isn't repeated, otherwise there will be many more upset fans.

How did Symphony of the Night rate on PS1/PSP?

Edit: It scored a 9 way back when on the PS1. Nice.

Well yes, but it's had a nice coat of paint (16x9 support etc), achievements, leaderboards etc. The way ports should come!
