Gears of War sequel confirmed?

360 News | Again?
During a recent Game Developers Conference presentation on the history behind the development of Gears of War, industry hearthrob to all gamer girls and boys alike, Cliff "Cliffy B" Bleszinski, apparently all but confirmed that Epic Games have plans to do a sequel to the Xbox 360 blockbuster.

While such news is hardly a surprise considering that the original Gears of War is still going strong at retail, with sales of over 3 millions copies so far - such confirmation from an actual member of the GoW team itself, the most renown at that, rather than a random Microsoft marketing executive, instils a different sort of palatable anxiety for the inevitable and tangible news from the sequel.

Whenever that is.

Please please please -

1) Have 4 player co-op campaign.
2) Implement a god-damn matchmaking system or party system for ranked games.
3) Have a story!!! (I loved the characters, but want more of the background/story)

Hell yes to 1 and 3 and as long as you cant connect to your own friends on ranked matches hell yes to 2. Im tired of joining laggy ass American matches where everyone drops out..

I don't think we need a party system for ranked games, but we do need achievements to be unlockable in player match as well. Then, if you are after an individual ranking you can do it. If you want to play with your friends than you can do that too. I don't think that in order to unlock the achievments in GoW, you should have to play ranked.

The other way, would be for MS to incorporate clan support into Live. I think that despite all the bugs, Chromehounds had a great model for clan support and rankings. This is especially important for games that promote teamwork such as GoW or BF2MC, the current ranking system only works at an individual level.

I read an interview a while back over at 1UP. They asked the epic dudes why they didn't add in matchmaking. They basically said they did, but M$ has holding the code tightly and didn't really want to help them implement it.

IMO, ALL 360 games should have matchmaking/team parties systems. Making online gaming so MUCH more enjoyable.

Anyway, at least Halo 3 will have it.

Rein denies game was confirmed at GDC

Epic Games has denied claims that a sequel to multi-million selling Xbox 360 title Gears of War was quietly announced at last week's Game Developers Conference.

According to Internet reports, Epic designer Cliff Bleszinski confirmed that Epic does "intend to do a sequel" during his GDC speech.

But in a post on the game's official forum, vice president Mark Rein has since stated: "Cliff didn't confirm anything of the sort."

However, while there may not yet be any official confirmation, it seems inevitable that Epic will seek to follow up on the success of Gears with a sequel.

Rein has previously helped to boost speculation that a trilogy is planned by querying, "Gears is a trilogy? If we can keep making quality games that fans obviously want then why would we have to stop at three?"

Gears of War isn't just popular with consumers - it picked up three trophies at the GDC Awards last week, including Best Game.
Whaaa? Anyways we all know it's coming out eventually....

In my opinion they still need to fix original, online system is horrible to find good games. The amount of glitches online suck, I lost kills for no reasons, A button sucks and chainsawing someone screws up for no reason.

You're dreaming, right?

The online system isn't as good as it could be, but it's not that hard to find your friends if you want to in Ranked matches. The game has its glitches yes, but unlike say, Halo 2, people hardly use them. The only glitch that I've ever had issues with is the one in Fuel Depot inside near the Hammer when you climb up one of the ledges and then fall through the map. Otherwise I've never been in any other glitch and out of the many games of Gears that I have played, I could count on one hand the amount of times I've seen people glitching. Halo 2 on the other hand? Almost every match has someone glitching, superbouncing or whatever.

I've never lost kills for no reason, the A button rarely screws up and chainsawing doesn't either. That said, people who use the chainsaw glitch where you blow up as soon as it comes near you though is annoying. But again, I've rarely seen it. And I've played Gears a lot.

Infact out of Gears and Halo 2, Gears is the much fairer game to be playing online.
