TMNT officially coming to XBLA

360 News | Only 400 points.
Ubisoft has confirmed to IGN that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which was originally rumoured to be coming to the XBLA a few weeks ago, will be coming to the download service this month. The game is being handled by Digital Eclipse, and will feature all seven original levels from the side-scrolling action game, as well as two- to four-player co-op support via Xbox Live Arcade. The game will support voice chat.

"The release of the TMNT classic arcade game on Xbox Live Arcade is Ubisoft's homage to a world-renowned franchise that for almost 20 years has captured the hearts of gamers," said James Regan, the director of new business development at Ubisoft. "Ubisoft is breathing new life into the video game franchise with the launch of our downloadable console games while remaining true to the unique core values that make the Turtles so timeless."

It was probably the worst-kept secret ever, but it's good to finally get confirmation that the game is on its way.

4 players with the arcade verison of turtles. Wow. I wish I had this when I was a kid, instead of that crappy port of the arcade game.

will feature all seven original levels
The NES game featured 2 extra levels - the snow one and the dojo.

This is the arcade game.

The NES game with all the levels you know and love will be on the VC at some point.

This game was ported to the NES and the Atari ST under the title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game due to the fact that an unrelated game titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had already been released on these systems. These ports of the arcade game included two new levels for the benefit of home players. Most of the original stages from the arcade game are extended as well. Also, at the end of the parking garage stage, instead of fighting the combined duo of both Bebop and Rocksteady, the player must fight the fly form of Baxter Stockman. There are also some altered graphics that include advertisements for Pizza Hut, plus the game's manual includes a Pizza Hut coupon.
